UFC commentator, comedian, and top podcaster Joe Rogan sounded off on comments “The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg made about jailing Republicans, saying that the way she thought about President Joe Biden’s power and what could be done is utterly “unhinged.” He added that he thought her legal analysis of the case about which she was talking was quite off base.
As background, the clip Rogan sounded off on came when Goldberg was discussing a late-February Supreme Court case about presidential immunity for former President Donald Trump. In the case, Trump and his legal team were arguing that if the Supreme Court did not rule on the matter, then that could lead to an increase in lawfare and cause serious problems for the executive branch, particularly its head.
Goldberg, giving her take on the matter, argued that if SCOTUS ruled for Trump, then presidents could get away with doing anything they want, no matter how criminal. “Now, I just, you know, let’s look at a scenario where the Supreme Court says, yes, he has all those rights, he is immune from everything. You know what Joe Biden could do since he is presently president?” Goldberg asked.
It was that clip that Rogan latched on to, using it to tear into Goldberg. He said, referring to the clip of Whoopi discussing Biden’s made-up, wild actions, “Did you see what Whoopi Goldberg said? She said that Biden could arrest all the Republicans put them in jail.” He continued, “You just need to see how unhinged this kind of thinking is. ‘Well, you know what Joe Biden could do. Joe Biden could…’ you have to see it. Because it’s, it’s on TV. It’s on television.”
That came immediately after Rogan discussed how the media apparatus was attempting to frame Trump as Hitler, saying, “And again, because it’s a person like Donald Trump, you get people thinking like if you could stop Hitler by any means necessary, wouldn’t you stop Hitler? And so they equate Donald Trump with Hitler and go, ‘here you go. This is our modern Hitler.'”
Then, after describing what he thought she said, Rogan turned to attacking her comments, saying that she was way off base in what she was claiming. In his view, her claim that the president could arrest everyone was an obviously fearmongering claim that was totally incorrect.
He said, “But the fact that she says that so confidently. Like if, if you’re willing to let Donald Trump use presidential immunity, that means Joe Biden could just go crazy and arrest all the Republicans. Because that’s what that means. Now that’s not what that means. Even a little bit. Like you just added a whole bunch of stuff to what that means.”
Giving his take on the matter, Rogan’s guest, anti-DEI and anti-CRT researcher and conservative personality Chris Rufo said, “I mean, in fairness, though, I mean, the view has to be you know, if you average out ‘The View’ hosts among the dumbest people on television.”
