White House press secretary Karine Jean-Piere for her condemnation of Texas law SB4, which grants state authorities to arrest illegal immigrants and local judges to order their deportation. According to KJP, enforcing this state law would supposedly make Texas communities “less safe” and “sow chaos and confusion” at the border.
In an official statement from the White House, the press secretary further described SB4 as “harmful” and “unconstitutional.” Jean-Pierre charged GOP officials with politicizing the border crisis while inhibiting “real solutions,” citing the bipartisan border reform in Congress.
The official statement from March 19 reads: “We fundamentally disagree with the Supreme Court’s order allowing Texas’ harmful and unconstitutional law to go into effect. S.B. 4 will not only make communities in Texas less safe, it will also burden law enforcement, and sow chaos and confusion at our southern border. S.B. 4 is just another example of Republican officials politicizing the border while blocking real solutions. We remained focused on delivering the significant policy changes and resources we need to secure the border – that is why we continue to call on Congressional Republicans to pass the bipartisan border security agreement, the toughest and fairest set of border reforms in decades.”
However, Karine Jean-Pierre has received substantial pushback from conservatives over her announcement regarding the Texas law. Fox News host Trace Gallagher sounded off on KJP’s statement, criticizing Texas for its attempt to enforce the rule of law amid a breakdown in order at the southern border.
Gallagher further highlighted the vast consequences that have stemmed from the Biden administration’s inability to secure the border and prevent the rampant illegal immigration that has poured into the American interior.
“Karine Jean-Pierre said with a straight face that enforcing the law would cause chaos and confusion. Because not enforcing the law for three years has caused what exactly? Tranquility and simplicity? Does the White House believe that 10 million plus illegal immigrants freely roaming the country has been beneficial?” he asked.
Gallagher drew attention to the heartbreaking death of 22-year-old Laken Riley, who was allegedly murdered at the hands of an illegal immigrant in Georgia. Conservative have slammed the Biden administration for not properly acknowledging the young woman’s death.
“Is busting city budgets coast to coast the good thing? Is fentanyl fine? Is crime comforting? Does not saying the name Laken Riley mean that she’s not really gone? Because she is gone. And there’s a reason she’s gone. And yet the White House again with a straight face says the Texas law is a public safety risk,” the Fox News host said. Watch a clip of the segment below:
The American Tribune recently reported on the Supreme Court ruling that Texas was permitted to enforce SB4 after the Biden administration moved to block it. However, just hours after the nation’s highest court authorized Texas officials to enforce the law, a federal appeals court blocked the law, allowing an earlier injunction stand.
“A complete lack of respect for our laws, sovereignty, military & law enforcement. #SB4, a law designed for enforcement along the border (NOT interior enforcement), which would have given authority for TX law enforcement to arrest every single person involved who unlawfully entered between a port of entry. In the interim, TX will continue to enforce other state crimes along the TX-MX border,” posted Chris Olivarez, Spokesperson with the Texas Department of Public Safety – South Texas Region on X in response to a video of illegal immigrants running over the border.
