Former First Lady Melania Trump remained true to her years as a fashion model at a Mar-a-Lago reception for Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who was there mainly to discuss important political matters with former President Donald Trump. Orban was an ally of Trump in his first administration and is known to be generally hostile to the EU’s migration stance and other woke policies, making him a likely ally of Trump abroad if Trump wins in 2024.
Speaking to Politico about the meeting and why Orban was at Mar-a-Lago, the Trump campaign said that Trump and Orban discussed “a wide range of issues affecting Hungary and the United States, including the paramount importance of strong and secure borders to protect the sovereignty of each nation.”
Orban, for his part, told Hungarian state media after the meeting that Trump is uninterested in further funding the Russo-Ukraine War, which means it will come to an end if he manages to win. Orban said, “He will not give a penny in the Ukraine-Russia war. Therefore, the war will end, because it is obvious that Ukraine can not stand on its own feet.”
Explaining why the war would end, Orban added, “If the Americans don’t give money and weapons, along with the Europeans, the war is over. And if the Americans don’t give money, the Europeans alone can’t finance this war. And then the war is over.”
In any case, Melania was quite successful in turning heads when she entered the venue in a sleek white pantsuit, black shirt, and black heels. Prime Minister Orbán, after she entered, presented her with a bouquet of flowers.
Melania was preceded in entering the venue by former President Donald Trump, her husband. Then, as she entered, Ray Orbison’s famous song “Pretty Woman” played in the background. It was quite an appropriate song choice given Melania’s wonderfully dramatic and beautiful entrance.
Watch that here:
This could be the sort of event about which Trump was speaking when he told FNC’s Laura Ingraham that Melania will make more appearances for the 2024 campaign. He said, “It’s funny, she was a very successful model, very, very successful, and yet she was a private person. She’s going to be out a lot. Not because she likes doing it, but she likes the results.”
Continuing, he added, “She wants to see this country really succeed. She loves the country.” Trump also told Ingraham, “Melania is a brilliant person. Her life revolves around Barron and the success of our country.” Further, he re-emphasized Melania’s essentially private nature compared to other First Ladies. He said, “You know, a lot of first ladies would go out — they want to be everywhere. They get angry at their husband because he’s not introducing them.” He then continued, “If I didn’t introduce Melania, she’d be very happy about it. She’s just a different kind of a person.”
Returning to his point about how she doesn’t like being in public but will do so because helping him win is important for the country, Trump added, “And she loves the country. She’s going to be out a lot, but she does it for the good of the country, not for her. She’s somebody with a lot of confidence. She doesn’t need that.”
