It is over three years into the Biden Administration, and anyone who has been paying attention and is honest knows what Joe Biden has done to the Southern border. He inherited the most secure border in generations from former President Trump, and almost on day one, he began dismantling the excellent work of the current GOP frontrunner. Now, over three years into his failed administration, Biden pretends to be helpless without a massive spending bill.
There are others to blame for the current crisis gripping much of the nation, however. Kamala Harris has been feckless and largely missing in action, and embattled Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has run interference for Biden at every turn.
Now, as we begin the stretch run to November, Mayorkas is lobbing accusations at Texas Governor Greg Abbott, blaming him for much of the issues sanctuary cities are currently dealing with. Abbott, along with others in the GOP, insists Biden already has the power to fix the border but chooses not to. Mayorkas took advantage of an appearance on left-leaning CNN’s “State of the Union” to criticize Abbott.
As a rebuttal to Abbott’s claims that Biden could stop the surge and close the border, Mayorkas said: “This coming from an individual who is purposefully refusing to coordinate, communicate, collaborate with other officials, and trying to wreak havoc in other cities and states across the country. That is not a model of governance. And he couldn‘t be more wrong.”
Many on the left consider the bussing of migrants to blue cities and states a political stunt, and perhaps it is, but the intent was to provide the left with some idea of what Texas and other border states are dealing with on a daily basis. As it turns out, liberals essentially only like the idea of migrants, not the reality of what they do to a city when they flood in unchecked.
Mayorkas has tried to portray Biden as being tough on immigration, touting deportation numbers. However, under Joe Biden, the United States has experienced a record-setting number of illegal crossings. Along with the influx comes the problems, including violent crime and social services stretched so thin sanctuary cities like New York are rethinking their status.
Abbott said about the situation: “The fact that the matter is there are laws on the books passed by Congress of the United States right now that authorize the executive branch to deny illegal entry. The president does not need new laws. The president needs a backbone to make sure that he said he enforces the immigration laws that are already on the books.” Mayorkas can spew all of the rhetoric and play the blame game, but the public isn’t buying it. According to The Washington Examiner, “A February Monmouth University poll found historic concerns over illegal immigration, with 61% of respondents saying it was a “very serious” problem, and another 23% saying it’s a “somewhat serious” problem.” Joe Biden has an immigration problem, and it isn’t getting better before the election.
Mayorkas can make excuses and run defense for Joe Biden all he wants. The truth is, Abbott and other governors decided to share the wealth, so to speak, regarding illegal migrants, and the squishy, liberal sanctuary cities are none too happy. Neither is the rest of the country, and that may spell doom for Biden in November.
