Last week, Hunter Biden appeared for a closed-door testimony with the House Oversight and Judiciary Committee. House Republicans have continually investigated Hunter Biden’s business activities and whether President Biden was involved. Joe Biden’s alleged participation in said business dealings has been the basis of a House GOP impeachment inquiry into the president.
The transcript of Hunter’s testimony was released last week, where House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer indicated there would be an additional public hearing to question the president’s son further. Among the key takeaways circulated by the House Oversight Committee, some have criticized the conduct of Rep. Eric Swalwell over his “immature” comments relating to the deposition. Reportedly, the California representative made a snarky remark, questioning if the transcript of Hunter’s testimony would be released in “Russian or English?”
As the general counsel for Comer’s office was reviewing protocol, Swalell jumped in, raising a “parliamentary inquiry,” questioning when Hunter’s transcripts would be released. The California Democrat was informed, “I’m going to get to that in one moment, sir.”
Apparently, the response was less than satisfactory for Rep. Swalwell, who further pressed, “I’m asking the chairman, not you. Chairman Comer, when are you going to release the transcript on this?” Comer and Swawell proceeded to go back and forth on the details of the transcript’s release when New York Democrat Jerry Nadler also chimed in, “Well, I care what his question is. When are you going to release the transcript? There are 91 transcripts that haven’t been released yet.”
After additional exchange, Comer’s counsel noted that they intended to release the transcript “within a day.” Rep. Nadler appeared to be pleased with the answer he was given. However, Swalwell pressed onward, making the snide comment, inquiring what language it would be in.
“Excuse me? What’d you say?” Comer’s counsel asked before the chairman chimed in, denouncing Swalwell’s conduct. “We’ve already answered the question, Eric, and we’re not going to tolerate outbursts like we had the last time,” Comer said.
“Today, we released the transcript of our deposition with Hunter Biden as part of our impeachment inquiry of President Joe Biden,” the Oversight Committee posted on X. “Contrary to Joe Biden’s past statements, Hunter Biden admitted he received money from Chinese companies but characterized it as “incredibly ethical.”
The House Oversight Committee extensively commented on the release of the Hunter Biden transcripts on X, highlighting some of the key excerpts from the closed-door testimony. “Contrary to Joe Biden’s past statements, Hunter Biden admitted he received money from Chinese companies but characterized it as “incredibly ethical,” the committee wrote.
“Hunter Biden admitted he traveled with then-Vice President Biden on Air Force Two to Beijing where he then introduced his father to his business partner, Jonathan Li. Then-Vice President Biden later went on to write a college letter of recommendation for Li’s son,” the post continued.
“Li, the CEO of a state-backed investment firm, wired $250,000 to Hunter Biden as a “loan” that Hunter Biden never repaid. Instead, Dem Donor Kevin Morris took on the debt for Hunter, commentary added. “Hunter Biden confirmed CEFC Chairman Ye Jianming, who is linked to the CCP, gave him a diamond.” The post on X continued to lay out key evidence regarding Hunter Biden’s controversial business dealings.
