President Biden is visiting the border for just the second time three years into his term in an attempt to save his political fortunes as Americans remain outraged about the border situation, particularly in the wake of Laken Riley, the UGA student murdered by an illegal immigrant. However, the move is too little, too late for many Americans, including the Border Patrol Union.
It spoke out against the Biden Administration’s planned border photo op in a statement to Fox News from Border Patrol Union President Brandon Judd. In his statement, President Judd highlighted the fact that the border has been a problem for the entirety of Biden’s presidency, and the fact that he’s only visiting now shows that he cares about saving his presidency, not securing the border.
Beginning the statement, President Judd declared that Biden’s planned visit to the border is not enough to convince it that he actually cares about securing the border. Making that point, he said, “Unfortunately, a visit by President Biden three years into his term and after repeatedly stating there is no crisis is too little, too late.”
Continuing, he argued that the administratin’s messaging on the border is non-sensical, as it would not be a problem Biden needs to investigate if his administration had, in fact, been doing everything it could to secure it. He said, “Whether stating it himself or through WH Press Secretary Karine Jean Pierre, Biden has said he’s done everything he can to secure the border. If that was the truth, and it wasn’t, there would be no point in visiting the border now.”
He then argued that, even if Biden does make a dramatic change of course now, the only reason he would be doing so is as a last-minute attempt to save his presidency from an election day disaster. He said, “But even if he were to put the proper policies in place at this late hour, he’d be doing it only to try to save his Presidency.”
Explaining what the problem with trusting Biden based on whatever he does now is, President Judd noted that Biden would likely reverse his policies if he gets reelected. Making that point, he said, “And self-serving actions when time is winding down should always give Americans pause. Common sense dictates that as a lame duck, he’d revert back to his open border policies if re-elected. Biden is going to the border now solely to try to save himself.”
Then, noting that Biden’s political attitude toward the border is itself a problem, President Judd argued that the border should be a common-sense issue meant to protect Americans, not a political football that one side only cares about when leaving the border open polls poorly for them. He argued, “Border security should never be about politics, it should always be about the safety and security of this great nation and the American people.”
Meanwhile, the Biden Administration has attempted to blame the disastrous border situation on Republicans. Watch KJP try to do so during a squabble with Fox News Channel White House Correspondent Peter Doocy here:
