Though former First Lady Melania Trump has mostly remained outside of the public eye as Trump’s 2024 campaign ramps up, that will soon be changing. Such is what former President Donald Trump told Laura Ingraham during a Fox News townhall, saying that Melania loves America and, though generally a private person, is ready to get out and support him and his campaign heading into the campaign season 2024.
Speaking about Melania and her role in the campaign, Trump made sure to emphasize to Ingraham that though Melania was successful as a model, she doesn’t like to be out in public, as she is generally a very private person. However, he added that her love of country and desire to see America turn around and head in the right direction Trump that general dislike of publicity, so she will be in the spotlight more as she helps him campaign.
He said, “It’s funny, she was a very successful model, very, very successful, and yet she was a private person. She’s going to be out a lot. Not because she likes doing it, but she likes the results.” Continuing, he added, “She wants to see this country really succeed. She loves the country.” Trump also told Ingraham, “Melania is a brilliant person. Her life revolves around Barron and the success of our country.”
Continuing, Trump re-emphasized Melania’s essentially private nature compared to other First Ladies. He said, “You know, a lot of first ladies would go out — they want to be everywhere. They get angry at their husband because he’s not introducing them.” He then continued, “If I didn’t introduce Melania, she’d be very happy about it. She’s just a different kind of a person.”
Further, speaking about Melania’s care in raising Barron Trump and how she balances that with her love of country and near-constant charity work, he said, “Her life revolves around that boy. It’s so important to her.” He added, “At the same time, it also revolves around our country and the success of our country. She’s raised a lot of money for charity. She’s a private person.”
And, returning to his point about how she doesn’t like being in public but will do so because helping him win is important for the country, Trump added, “And she loves the country. She’s going to be out a lot, but she does it for the good of the country, not for her. She’s somebody with a lot of confidence. She doesn’t need that.”

Trump’s effort to get Melania out and about campaigning for him is likely a response, at least in part, to his generally poor polling with women. He also has tried to win some of that demographic over by striking a more moderate stance on abortion than most other Republicans.
For example, in a recent post on Truth Social, he said, “Under my leadership, the Republican Party will always support the creation of strong, thriving, healthy American families. We want to make it easier for mothers and fathers to have babies, not harder! That includes supporting the availability of fertility treatments like IVF in every State in America. Like the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of Americans, including the VAST MAJORITY of Republicans, Conservatives, Christians, and Pro-Life Americans, I strongly support the availability of IVF for couples who are trying to have a precious baby. Today, I am calling on the Alabama Legislature to act quickly to find an immediate solution to preserve the availability of IVF in Alabama. The Republican Party should always be on the side of the Miracle of Life – and the side of Mothers, Fathers, and their Beautiful Babies. IVF is an important part of that, and our Great Republican Party will always be with you, in your quest, for the ULTIMATE JOY IN LIFE!“
