White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre recently endured a major blunder on social media after accidentally posting a message seemingly intended for Joe Biden’s X account. The post was quickly deleted soon after it was uploaded.
“Investing in America means investing in ALL of America. When I ran for President, I made a promise that I would leave no part of the country behind,” the message on KJP’s account read. The press secretary offered no further comment on the matter.
Despite the swift move to delete the tweet, social media users quickly jumped on the incident, criticizing Jean-Pierre. Fox News contributor Joe Concha wrote, “Welp. I guess we know who’s been writing President Biden’s tweets for him. (A) Karine Jean-Pierre (not good)… (B) White House intern (also not good)… (C) The person who left cocaine at the White House (*really* not good).”
Today News Africa White House correspondent Simon Ateba responded to the mishap, stating, “Oh wow! They tweeted from the wrong account! @PressSec Karine Jean-Pierre has not run for President, at least to the best of my knowledge.” Reporter Stephanie Myers said, “White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre tweeted and then deleted this. Looks like she forgot to switch to the @POTUS account.”
KJP also made headlines recently when she horribly mispronounced the names of two Hawaii Democratic senators, Sens. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) and Brian Schatz (D-HI). Jean-Pierre further addressed Hirono as a “he.”
“Senator Harino [sic], who I said the president spoke to just last night, he thanked the president for the immediate support of federal agencies have delivered for residents of Hawaii,” KJP, “and so does, has, so has Senator Shorts, Sharts — Schatz.”
The American Tribune reported on a recent press event where Jean-Pierre was criticized for a “shocking” answer regarding whether Washington, D.C., is a safe city to visit. Crime in America’s urban environments has been a primary concern of many Americans in recent years.
“[Y]ou know — in D.C., homicides are up, crime is up, carjacking is spiking. Simple question: Does the President believe the nation’s capital is safe for Americans from across the country to come visit?” the press secretary was asked.
She responded, “I mean, look, we see — we hear the reports and see the data as well. And all violent crime anywhere is completely unacceptable, not just here in D.C. We’re going to call that — them all out in communities across the country.”
However, the press secretary’s response eventually shifted toward blaming the GOP for rising crime. “And we’re not seeing that from congressional Republicans. We’re just not. They continue to get in the way. The President has taken action. He puts — he puts that in his budget every day, making sure that we make communities safer. And we’re just not seeing that from Republicans,“ she said.
KJP has also received backlash for a recent comment attempting to defend President Biden’s deteriorating cognitive abilities. In reference to an incident where Biden mixed up the presidents of Mexico and Egypt, the press secretary seemingly suggested this wasn’t concerning because he has “gaffed names his entire career.” Watch KJP say that here:
