The liberal agenda is destroying America, one neighborhood at a time. Some liberal cities are already gone. Portland, Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, among others, are barely livable. High prices due to insane regulations and taxes, open-air drug use, and rampant violent crime are out of control. Liberal, Soros-funded district attorneys have put more emphasis on putting criminals back on the street than keeping them in jail, and police have also been severely hamstrung.
The resulting mess has led to mass migration of people from California, New York, Illinois, and cities like Portland and Seattle to safer, less expensive locations, mainly in Red states. Voting has consequences, and since most of the people in these areas voted for what they were getting, it is hard to feel any sympathy. The ones who are leaving usually have very compelling reasons and stories explaining their plight.
One Minneapolis couple is fleeing the city and trying to sell their home, and are also telling nightmare stories about what is happening to their city. Jeff Mammenga owns an old Victorian home with seven bedrooms, but in the twenty years he has been there he has seen his side of town decay so severely he is desperately trying to sell the house.
In a recent interview, Mammenga and his partner Jon Loidolt talked about the dangerous situation and lack of community support. “We loved it at first. We loved the neighbors. But it has changed so much. We don’t feel any public safety and that should be our basic civil right, but we don’t have that.” The house is very close to the infamous Third Precinct, where some of the worst George Floyd-related violence in the city took place.
Mammenga and Loidolt continued: “We experienced so much anxiety it’s not even funny. We were told we wouldn’t have police, we wouldn’t have fire, we wouldn’t have any assistance when Lake Street burned down. They sent us a text to evacuate. Ever since the riots and the pandemic, it’s just gone downhill like there’s no tomorrow.” It is more than just violence and robbery, however. Drug use and vagrancy have turned their yard into a biohazard.
They elaborated on the drugs and vagrancy: “To be honest they s– in our backyard, needles are everywhere, prostitution happens. People sit on our porch like it’s their house and they OD and we call 911 all the time,” Loidolt said.”It’s almost once a week,” Mammenga explained, saying, “It’s insane.” Mammenga recalled being assaulted in August, “I’m like, ‘Can you guys move the party down the block just a little bit for maybe like a half hour?’ I’m not rude. They’re not rude to me. I’m down picking up garbage and I see these white tennis shoes coming towards me, I started to get upright and boom, he pops me. My glasses go flying and they end up in their yard … Now, he’s kicking and stomping on me.” The homeowner suffered a broken eye socket in the attack, for which no one was ever arrested.
The men don’t blame the police, however, they blame elected officials. “It’s not the police, they’re not the issue. The issue is the system and our socialist tree huggers that live here.” Neither man reports voting for any of the leaders they hold responsible, “Jason Chavez, didn’t vote for him. [Jacob] Frey, didn’t vote for him. Bloody Mary (Mary Moriarty), as I call her, no, I did not vote for her.” When asked if there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, both men agreed, “Oh, no. There’s no end to the tunnel,” Mammenga flatly stated. “The tunnel is brick shut.” Loidolt added: “It’s darkness. There’s no light. The basic right of public safety is not here in Minneapolis anymore.”
It is a sad state of affairs for many blue areas. Not everyone voted for what is happening, yet they have to suffer the consequences. Until the rule of law is upheld and there are leadership changed from the top down, nothing is likely to change. Once again, voting has consequences, and let’s hope anough people are fed up.
