According to in-court testimony from Nathan Wade on Thursday, February 15, the trips that Mr. Wade and Fulton County DA Fani Willis took together, trips some have alleged are examples of her profiting from her position and misusing government funds, were paid for on his business credit card and then reimbursed by DA Willis.
That court appearance took place after Judge McAfee of Fulton County ruled that Wade and Willis would have to testify because of the question of impropriety raised by their relationship. He ruled, “I think the issues at point here are whether a relationship existed, whether that relationship was romantic or non-romantic in nature, when it formed, and whether it continues. And that’s only relevant because it’s in combination with the question of the existence and extent of any personal benefit conveyed as a result of their relationship.”
In his ruling, Judge McAfee also said, “And so because I think its possible that the facts alleged by the defendant could result in disqualification, I think an evidentiary hearing must occur to establish the record on those core allegations.”
During his testimony, Wade was asked, “When did your romantic relationship with Ms. Willis begin?” He said, “Early 2022. Around March.” He then insisted, “I never purchased a gift for Ms. Willis.” Clarifying that he was reimbursed when asked, Wade said, “She did, it was cash. She didn’t give me any checks.”
Further, he said, “Traveling with her is a task. You can probably imagine the attention that happens.” He added, “Imagine trying to walk through an airport or sit at a restaurant.” He then said, “She couldn’t get any peace of mind locally, so we’d get in my car and drive.”
Breaking the news on X, conservative personality Greg Price said, “BREAKING: Nathan Wade testifies that he paid for all the vacations he took with Fani Willis with his business credit card. And that she then reimbursed him in CASH. This what at a time he was getting paid by Willis’ office for the prosecution of Trump.”
Similarly, conservative X personality Benny Johnson, posting on X about the matter, said, “🚨BOMBSHELL DEVELOPMENT: Nathan Wade testifies under oath the lavish vacations he took with Fani Willis while hired to prosecute Trump on Fani’s Fulton County case were paid for using his business credit card, then REIMBURSED IN CASH BY FANI WILLIS”

In a recent filing, one of Trump’s co-defendants in the RICO case alleged that Nathan Wade had knowingly lied about his relationship with Willis, alleging, “Defendant David J. Shafer files this Supplement to Motion to Disqualify the District Attorney for Fulton County, Georgia, and hereby supplements his Motion to Disqualify The District Attorney for Fulton County, Georgia, Atlanta Judicial Circuit, and The District Attorney’s Office from Further Prosecution of This Action (Motion to Disqualify), respectfully showing that, upon information and belief, Special Assistant District Attorney Nathan J. Wade has made knowingly false and misleading statements concerning his relationship with Fulton County District Attorney Fani T. Willis. Mr. Shafer submits the statements as additional evidence of misconduct by the prosecution in this action, as additional grounds for disqualification of District Attorney Willis and her office.”
