ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith knows a little bit about controversy. Often called “Srceamin” A. Smith for his propensity to get loud and bombastic, Smith has hard opinions and isn’t afraid to share them. Of course, that doesn’t always mean he is correct. The controversial host has been accused of being racist and intentionally inflammatory and often doesn’t reserve his comments for strictly the sports world.
In fact, Smith sometimes appears on network news programs to discuss certain topics, and he has a podcast. Nothing is off-limits for the brash personality, and on his Tuesday night podcast, Smith made some unexpected predictions as he laid into Joe Biden, New York City, and the illegal migrant situation in America’s biggest city. More surprisingly, Smith had positive comments about former President Trump and a shocking prediction about who will be the next president.
When speaking about the illegal immigration crisis gripping the nation, Smith flatly said: “Ladies and gentlemen, Trump’s gonna get re-elected. Donald Trump is going to be the next president of the United States if this kind of stuff that I’m reading continues to happen in American cities, Donald Trump is a shoo-in for re-election, even if he’s a convicted felon.” Smith was specifically referring to the Biden Administration giving preferential treatment to illegal immigrants while American citizens suffer.
The ESPN host railed against a new pilot program in his home city of New York that would reportedly cost $53 million and give illegals prepaid credit cards with refillable monthly amounts. Smith continued: “How in the hell do we come up with a $53 million pilot program for illegals, but folks who are here legally, or born here, we don’t have enough for them? Just like we can come up with billions for Ukraine, but somehow, someway, we can’t fix the homeless problem. I’m down for helping Israel, I’m down for helping address the situations with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, OK. I’m down for helping the Ukrainians fighting off Russia. What about poor and desolate citizens here?”
ESPN doesn’t allow on-air personalities to express political views, especially if they stray from the leftist network’s narrative, but because Smith is currently the biggest star on the struggling network, he is permitted to speak freely on his own podcast. He continued: “How the hell do you print money for foreign countries, but you don’t print that money to help eradicate [sic] folks that are starving right here in the streets of America who were born and raised here?”
The Biden Administration continues to tout an allegedly strong economy and low unemployment rates, but Smith had a different take. He continued: “You can talk about employment all you want to, you can talk about the labor participation rate, but guess what? If you ain’t making no damn money, and you gotta get two jobs to pay the same prices, or to buy the same amount of stuff that you used to buy, and the price is higher than it used to be, because of inflation, then guess what? What are you really accomplishing? That’s why Trump is on the verge of getting elected. Re-elected, because when he was in office there was a flourishing economy.”
Smith will never be mistaken for a Republican and admitted that he voted for Gore, Clinton, Obama twice, and Joe Biden despite the fact Biden authored the crime bill that Smith said “incarcerated a whole bunch of people in the 90s that looks like me.” However, Smith also isn’t going to sit back and blindly follow whatever path the Democrats are leading as it destroys his city.
The more people with a platform willing to speak out against what is happening in America, the better. Smith will never be a Trump supporter, but he is at least willing to admit that things were better economically with Trump, and maybe the path back to prosperity should include Trump. Certainly, Smith will get pushback from his liberal network, but he isn’t likely to change his opinions.
