Throughout Biden’s presidency, the state of his cognitive function has consistently come into question, given a plethora of instances demonstrating declining mental capability. Many Americans cite President Biden’s age as a concern heading into the 2024 election.
Fueling further speculation, it was recently announced that President Biden would not participate in the traditional presidential interview before the Super Bowl. Subsequently, even CNN suggested that the President’s mental faculties, or lack thereof, could be to blame for the decision.
During a segment of “CNN This Morning,” a journalist asked the network why Biden would be passing up the pre-Super Bowl interview. “[H]im saying no to something that he’s expected to do, a serious interview, he can really get his message out to an audience, just sitting, waiting for him, waiting for his message, is telling,” said Bloomberg senior Washington correspondent Salena Moshin. “Is it because he can’t handle it?”
Following Moshin’s inquiry, CNN host Phil Mattingly questioned the likelihood of any presidential debates before the election, given Biden’s mental state. “I think I’m in the minority on our team in that I am convinced there will be debates, and I don’t see any way there is not. Am I wrong?” Mattingly asked. Moshin replied, “Look, since 2016, everything we were convinced of, we need to throw out. Maybe it will happen; it will happen for different reasons than it used to.”
The Bloomberg correspondent then referred to a video of Biden incoherently mumbling through an interview, something he has often done throughout his first term in the White House during public appearances. Moshin highlighted the problematic nature of the President of the United States being incapable of answering basic questions. “[J]ust look at that clip we just saw. If he is not able to follow the questions, if his staff is worried that he can connect the dots and find the word that he’s looking for, that’s a problem,” she said.
Likely sensing this could be a good opportunity to expose Biden, former President Donald Trump expressed that he wishes to debate Biden “immediately.” “I’d like to debate him now because we should debate. We should debate for the good of the country,” Trump said recently.
A reporter recently questioned Biden outside of a boba shop in Las Vegas, where the president was asked if he would accept Trump’s challenge to a debate. Biden appeared to dismiss the invitation, stating, “Well, if I were him, I’d want to debate me too. He’s got nothing else to do.”
Trump also criticized Biden for skipping the Super Bowl interview for the second consecutive year. Biden partook in the interview in both 2021 and 2022. Trump outright stated what many Americans think of President Biden, declaring, “He can’t do it, because he can’t talk.”
The American Tribune recently reported on another incident that reflects poorly on Biden’s mental health, where he seemingly claimed that he recently spoke to the former French President Francois Mitterand, who has been deceased since 1996. Since the comment, conservatives have taken to social media asserting that Biden should not be leading the executive branch with such poor mental capability.
