Recently, Dr. Drew Pinsky appeared on conservative commentator Dave Rubin’s podcast “The Rubin Report,” where he addressed his skepticism toward the mainstream media. Pinsky largely credited Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for contributing to this realization, in light of his contrarian stances on the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pinsky explained he has opened his mind to a newfound skepticism of the mainstream media that he once would have never questioned. The doctor noted the disturbing nature of this revelation, leading him to ask how long the media has been deceptive toward the American public.
“I am I am open to everything now. And I’m open to things that I never thought I would have been open to. And I really think that the door fully sort of came open. I realized that everything in the in the news is BS, everything. There is nothing that I can consume on any legacy media that I can trust. And that is shocking. And that’s disturbing. And he makes you wonder how long it’s been going on for them. I’m concerned it might have been a very long time,” he told Rubin.
Pinsky explained how conversations with RFK Jr. have transformed his opinion of the media and the pharmaceutical industry, noting how Kennedy’s insights opened his eyes to problematic conflicts of interest in the industry.
“Yes, I was gonna tell you that my interview with our my first interview with RFK Jr. He was so reasonable and so smart and so many interesting ideas and enlighten me to this cozy relationship between the regulators and the pharma companies, which I really wasn’t aware of and I can’t let a pharma company representative into my office to give me a pen with a drug name name on it, and yeah, those guys are living together and cross pollinating. I mean, that’s mind boggling to me and so and that he had a very sensible didn’t necessarily fully agree with it, but a sensible idea about vaccine research that he would like to push forward. Not that vaccines are bad, his family’s all vaccinated, my family’s all vaccinated,” he added.
Dr. Drew further stated how profound it was to realize the controversial nature of even having a public conversation with RFK Jr. “And at the end of that interview, he sent them to me I met him now many times since then, he goes, Oh my god. Drew, you are so courageous to talk to me and I blew me back in my chair. I thought, I need courage to have a conversation with an adult in a public setting. And he was right. This is. are so courageous to talk to me and I and I blew me back in my chair. I thought I need courage to have a conversation with an adult in a public setting. And he was right,” Pinsky said.
Dr. Drew discussed freedom and free speech, two fundamental values that have defined the American experience. Pinsky explained how he has come to realize the extent to which speech has been suppressed, citing prominent leaks such as the Twitter files.
“This is this is a time where I didn’t realize how much speech was being suppressed. How much was being manipulated how much then what happened after that was the Twitter files and they started seeing was going on. And it just it just been to me this is all reprehensible. And what has happened as a result, I don’t think I’ve shifted my political views. I’ve just really, I never imagined I’d be in this point in my life at this age and place in my career, freedom and freedom fighting and the courage to stand up for it have been the most important thing in my life right now,” he said.
