Hans Schmidt is a 26-year-old Christian preacher from Arizona who is also a veteran and father of two. He was also sent to the hospital, fighting desperately for his life, after he was shot in the head while preaching to passersby on a street corner in the town of Glendale, Arizona. He was informing passers-by on a street corner about an upcoming church service when someone shot him in the head and quickly fled. Now, however, he has miraculously recovered and made it out of the hospital.
As background, Mr. Schmidt’s wife, asking for the public to provide the police with any information they might have and showing her faith in God above in a post on Instagram, wrote, “My husband was shot in the head yesterday while street preaching on the corner of 51st Ave and Peoria If anyone has any info please contact 911. Thank you for your prayers. Believing God has the final say. I love you so much babe.”
After posting that devastating news, however, Zulya Schmidt got to post some great news on Sunday, January 28: Hans had not only recovered and made it out of the hospital despite the gunshot wound to the head, but was doing so well that he can walk and talk normally and even play the drums. She described that incredible recovery as a miracle from God.
In that post, Zulya wrote, “We serve a miracle working God. He walks, he talks, he even plays the drums 🥹” Continuing in the post’s caption, with the post showing the two of them in their Sunday best, “God has done an incredible work in Hans’ life and every day he continues to improve. Please continue to pray for a full restoration 💙”
Commenting on the post, people left messages of support and championed the power of prayer, as shown through Mr. Schmidt’s incredible recovery. “I don’t know you Sir! But we prayed for you. He did it!! He did it!!” one commenter wrote. “The power of prayer is so miraculous mija. We love you guys and sending continued prayers!! 🫶🏻🙏🏼♥️,” added another.
Another commenter added that the miraculous recovery shows God’s grace and power, and pledged to continue praying for Mr. Schmidt. That commenter said, “WOW, God is SO GOOD!!!!!!! I’m from Canada and have been praying since I heard your story, a day or 2 after Hans was injured. What an awesome testimony!!! I will continue to pray for full healing and restoration. ❤️”
Still another commenter described the recovery as a miracle and praised Zulya for her internal strength and faith, writing, “I’m so inspired by this miracle God made in your lives! Not only the miracle of saving his life to tell the tell, but the strength that he gave you as a wife and a mother. As a new wife, myself I couldn’t even imagine! You found strength in God! So happy to see you guys enjoying life together!”
Mr. Schmidt’s church, Victory First Chapel, posted on its website about his recovery, saying, “On November 15th, 2023 Hans Schmidt was shot while street preaching on the corner of 51st Ave and Peoria. Thank you to all who have shared your prayers, love, and support during this time. Our prayers have been answered! We are rejoicing and thanking God for the miracle we have seen. Hans has been released from the hospital and is home with his family. Please continue to pray for this family as they navigate the road to recovery. Thank you Jesus!”
