Nathan Wade is one of three special prosecutors in Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’s RICO case against former President Donald Trump and more than a dozen members of his 2020 campaign and legal teams. He’s also at the center of allegations that DA Willis acted incorrectly and misused county funds, as she and Wade are accused of having a romantic relationship that led to both of them financially benefitting from her case against Trump.
Further, Wade is getting divorced, with some details from the divorce trial having made it into the allegations against DA Willis, such as bank statements showing that he bought an airline ticket in her name. Wade was expected to have to testify in that trial, with his testimony being helpful in that it could shine light on his relationship with DA Willis. However, Wade appears to have dodged having to testify.
He did so through a temporary agreement in the divorce case struck on Tuesday, January 30th. In the court order recognizing the agreement, Cobb County Superior Court Judge Henry Thompson wrote that Wade “entered into a temporary agreement addressing all issues presently before the court.” As a result, there was no need for Wade to testify on his alleged relationship with DA Willis.
In the order, Judge Thompson wrote, “The parties, by and through their counsel of record, have entered into a temporary agreement addressing all issues presently before the Court. The parties have further agreed that the terms and provisions of this temporary agreement shall not be filed with the Court.” Judge Thompson continued, “The Court has reviewed the terms and provisions of the temporary agreement entered into by and between the parties through their counsel of record and hereby approves said temporary agreement as it is just and proper in the circumstances.”
The Hill, reporting on why the agreement is important, noted that lawyers for Wade’s wife, Jocelyn, said they would have questioned him over “his finances and conduct” during the hearing scheduled for Wednesday, January 31. During that testimony, he would have almost certainly needed to answer questions on the flights he purchased for himself and DA Willis.
One of Jocelyn’s lawyers, however, said that her team’s goal was simply to “ensure that the couple’s assets are divided properly after more than twenty-six years of marriage.” She added, “Our aim is to guide our client towards a just and equitable divorce resolution– without political agenda or public scrutiny. We are not connected to, nor concerned with, any other case. Joycelyn Wade’s primary focus remains on her family,”
Regardless of intent, the airplane charges have become a major problem for DA Willis. As The American Tribune recently reported: “the Daily Caller News Foundation reports that a 2022 disclosure form from DA Willis shows that she did not disclose the plane ticket Wade purchased for her that year. That is a problem because she must file an annual Income and Financial Disclosure Report that requires, among other information, the disclosure of a gift or favor worth more than $100 from a ‘prohibited source,’ which includes anyone ‘doing business with the county.‘”
And, outside of the attempts from lawyers and politicians to hold DA Willis accountable, normal people are furious and calling for justice as well. For example, one furious Fulton County resident recently appeared at a local government meeting to demand a full investigation into DA Willis and her alleged corruption. Watch him here:
