The tide is slowly turning in favor of former President Donald Trump as he gains momentum with Super Tuesday coming soon. The GOP favorite won Iowa and New Hampshire handily, and all of his competitors besides former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley have dropped out. Whether it be to secure a cabinet position or not waste any more money, Vivek Ramaswamy, Ron DeSantis, and every other wannabe challenger has bowed out except for Haley.
Perhaps she is hoping for a miracle in her state of South Carolina, which is next up, but every expert and every other candidate has seen the writing on the wall: it’s over. Once Haley is finally sent to the sidelines, President Trump can continue with the business at hand of figuring out how to defeat Joe Biden and put the nightmarish last three years behind us.
Under Biden, literally, everything is worse. Inflation has soared, prices are through the roof, the Southern border is an unmitigated disaster, and the world sits on the brink of war. These facts aren’t lost on Americans. Biden’s approval ratings are underwater, and if current polls are any indication, the GOP leader is picking up key endorsements from a demographic that has long been the linchpin of the Democrats.
Specifically, the black and Latino communities are rallying around Trump like no other Republican before him. With every broken promise from the left and every clearly politically motivated indictment, minority communities have rallied behind the embattled former president. Perhaps they feel a sense of kinship, considering the obviously trumped-up charges, or are rebelling against the bloviation spewing from the left about things like January 6th and so-called “threats to democracy,” one thing is obvious, many black and Hispanic voters are no longer blindly leaning left.
The list of black celebrities openly endorsing Trump is impressive. Kanye West, DaBaby, Lil Wayne, Wocka Flocka Flame, Sexyy Red, and others have thrown their support behind the former president. Rapper YG, who famously hit big with an anti-Trump song in 2016 called FDT has rallied behind the GOP frontrunner. He said in August: “I’m speaking about these motherf***** in the hood. I am speaking on their behalf. This is what they say. ‘S***, [Joe] Biden ain’t did nothing for us, that n**** Trump is passing out money.'”
Sunday, perhaps the most unlikely and most influential black artist yet spoke out about Donald Trump. Snoop Dogg was interviewed by British press over the weekend and said: “Donald Trump? He ain’t done nothing wrong to me. He has done only great things for me. He pardoned Michael Harris. So I have nothing but love and respect for Donald Trump.”
While it isn’t exactly an endorsement, it is a far cry from 2017, when Snoop released a politically charged music video featuring the rapper pulling a toy gun and shooting a parody version of the then-president. As was the case with many people, Snoop’s stance has softened upon realizing Trump isn’t a racist or dictator or any of the labels the left put on him. The rapper referred to Trump pardoning the co-founder of Death Row Records, Michael Harris. Harris was set to serve until 2028 for attempted murder and drug charges more than three decades ago.
Whether it is a soft endorsement or just Snoop Dogg becoming more mellow in his old age, it is a win for President Trump and the GOP. Snoop is perhaps the most influential black artist of our lifetime, and having his blessing could give Trump considerable cache in the black community, which will be key to defeating Joe Biden in November, and that’s a win for all of us.
