NFL quarterback C.J. Stroud recently expressed the importance of his personal faith and how it guides him through life’s trials and tribulations. On Saturday, Stroud and the Houston Texans suffered a season-ending 34-10 playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens. However, instead of letting the devastating defeat dominate his demeanor, the star quarterback began the post-game press conference by giving thanks to God.
“It’s what I lean on through thick and thin,” Stroud explained to reporters. “I know I’m upset right now, but I’m really just blessed looking back on this year, this opportunity we had today to play in front of millions of people. I’m just really grateful to God on all the opportunities He’s blessed me with.”
Stroud continued explaining that during hardship, he will always “lean” on God to persevere. The former Ohio State Buckeye further expressed his gratitude for all the opportunities God has created for him throughout his life, culminating in him being one of the greatest professional quarterbacks.
“I’m just gonna lean on Him and I know that this isn’t the end for me. It’s a lot of more football for me to play, and I’m just excited for that. And I’m super blessed with the guys who I lined up with every week this year. And I’m just really thankful to God on how much he’s brought me from – I can go all the way to when I was a kid to college to Week 1 to now. I’ve grown as a person and as a man of God in a lot of different ways. I’m just really blessed for that,” he said.
“I’ve been through a lot. Not only in football but things that made me kind of chill when everything is going crazy. And I thank God for putting that (in) me because that’s something that you need playing in this position – is lead. That defense over there, they didn’t blink even though they were giving up big plays. They knew it would come down to the wire – we knew that, too,” Stroud continued.
The American Tribune reported last week on the Controversial move by NBC, when the network cut out a clip of CJ Stroud thanking Christ after a win against the Cleveland Browns. When a sideline reporter asked about his first playoff game and record-setting performance on the field, stroud responded, “First and foremost, I just want to give all glory and praise to my Lord, Jesus Christ.”
