Chris Pratt has become a leader among the Hollywood stars in the Christian movement that is sweeping across America. The star of “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Jurassic World” took to social media to update his fans about his goal of reading the entire Bible in one year.
Pratt, in a social media post, celebrated reaching day 221 of consecutive days of Bible reading, a goal that he has openly talked to fans about throughout the entire process. “Bible in a Year” is a podcast from Father Mike Schmitz, which has grown in popularity in recent years as a great way to get to know the Bible in a simple and digestible daily lesson.
Pratt, who has been outspoken in his conservative political leaning and his Christian faith throughout his entire career, said the following on an Instagram story. “Here’s what I was listening to on my run portion Bible in a Year Podcast. Have loved using the Hallow App! What a great job, Mark Wahlberg!”
Pratt continued, explaining that while he has worked hard and been diligent, it is looking like his mission to finish “Bible in a year” will take roughly one year and a half. He said, “It’ll probably be more like Bible in a year and a half but I’m doing my best.”
Actor Mark Wahlberg was mentioned by Chris Pratt in the post due to his affiliation with the Hallow App, a Christian Prayer app that pushes people to listen to faith-based podcasts and other content. The app was founded in 2018 by former atheist Alex Jones.
According to Shalom World, Jones made the app with two groups of Christians in mind. On the one hand, he sought to create an app that devout folks who pray up to an hour every single day were able to use to help their journey in faith and guide them to come even closer to God.
He also wrote it with a less enthused, even withdrawn group of Christians who he says have lost their way and need help regaining that strength of faith or finding fight for the first time. To Jones, the app was a way to help people and to share the message of God and Jesus with as many people as possible.
In an interview quoted by Shalom World, Jones said, “We have a ton of people on the app who take their faith incredibly seriously, kind of people who are praying every day for 30 minutes, 60 minutes, but… we have this special soft spot in our hearts for people who have really fallen away, and people who are in real dark places. To be able to be part of God’s outreach to those folks is just an incredible blessing.”
Seeing stars like Chris Pratt talk about their faith consistently in a public setting can go a long way to making people realize that a strong faith is something to be proud of. Christianity is seeing a resurgence over the entirety of America right now, and this is just one example of ways that Chris Pratt and Mark Wahlberg have helped that movement gain momentum.
