Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene recently called for the house sergeant at arms, William McFarland, to arrest Hunter Biden if he returns to the Capitol building after his actions, which some have labeled as a publicity stunt. Reportedly, leaders in Congress could have ordered the detainment or arrest of Hunter Biden on the grounds of his subpoena defiance.
The president’s son recently appeared at a House Oversight Committee hearing to consider approving a resolution that would hold him in contempt of Congress for defying the subpoena. Hunter Biden controversially stormed out of the hearing as MTG was preparing to ask him questions.
As Rep. Greene began speaking, Hunter Biden abruptly stood up with his legal team and left the room. “Excuse me, Hunter. Apparently you’re afraid of my words,” MTG said. “I think it’s clear and obvious for everyone watching this hearing today that Hunter Biden is terrified of strong conservative Republican women, because he can’t even face my words as I was about to speak to him. What a coward,” she continued.
MTG pointed out that Hunter was not only allowed into the House Oversight hearing, but he was “escorted” into the chamber by the sergeant at arms. “I hate to let you know the sergeant at arms actually escorted him in along with his secret service detail,” she said. Greene was questioned if she thinks Hunter Biden should be arrested if he performs another public stunt, she responded, “I certainly think so.”
MTG went on to list more of her “unpopular” opinions surrounding current policy debates. “But I also think we shouldn’t be funding the war in Ukraine, and I think we should be shutting down the border,” she stated. “And I don’t think we should pass the CR [continuing resolution].”
Rep. Greene suggested that while her opinions may be frowned upon the presence of the political establishment, they resonate with many Americans. “I have a lot of opinions that are not always popular here in Washington,” she said. “They’re popular everywhere else.”
Since Hunter Biden allegedly defied the Congressional subpoena, Republicans have harshly criticized the president’s son for his conduct. The American Tribune recently reported on a report from the House Oversight Committee claiming that Hunter “has violated federal law, and must be held in contempt of Congress.”
The House Oversight Committee report continues, “a critical component of the impeachment inquiry into, among other things, whether Joseph R. Biden, Jr., as Vice President and/or President: (1) took any official action or effected any change in government policy because of money or other things of value provided to himself or his family; (2) abused his office of public trust by providing foreign interests with access to him and his office in exchange for payments to his family or him; or (3) abused his office of public trust by knowingly participating in a scheme to enrich himself or his family by giving foreign interests the impression that they would receive access to him and his office in exchange for payments to his family or him.”
