Appearing on MSNBC for an interview on January 11th, First Lady Jill Biden spoke to host Mika Brzezinski about how the GOP is treating her son Hunter, how she sees Hunter as having successfully rebuilt his life in the wake of addiction ruining it, and how she sees President Joe Biden’s age and whether or not it is an issue for the country.
As background, members of Congress are investigating Hunter and President Joe Biden for the business dealings in which the Biden family was involved, with many on the right suspecting corruption. They are also working on a resolution for holding Hunter in contempt of Congress.
In any case, in her comments on Hunter, Dr. Jill ignored the various offenses with which Hunter has been charged and instead acted like what Republicans are doing when they push for accountability is just being needlessly mean to him.
That came when Dr. Jill was asked, by MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski, “How have you been coping personally, with the onslaught of accusations against your husband and your family, including and especially Hunter is the focus of the House Oversight Committee hearing, holding him in contempt obsessing over him showing picture of him during vulnerable moments in his battle with addiction on the floor of the house, this would crush any family.”
Responding, Dr. Jill said that the GOP is being “cruel” to Hunter, in the process ignoring that they are interested because Hunter has been charged with serious crimes. She said, “Mika, I think what they are doing to Hunter is cruel. And I’m really proud of how Hunter has rebuilt his life after addiction. ”
Then she focused on how it has impacted her family rather than showing any worry about or even understanding of how Hunter’s potential misdeeds, which are being investigated, might have hurt the country. She said, “You know, I’m, I love my son and it’s had it’s hurt my grandchildren. And that’s what I’m so concerned about that it’s affecting their lives as well.”

During the same interview, Dr. Jill was asked about President Joe Biden’s age and not only said that it is not a problem for him or America, but said that his advanced age is actually a good thing because it means he has experience.
That came when Bzerzinski asked, “This is a massive amount of physical and emotional stress. It would be on any person. Your husband is 81. At the end of a second term, he’d be 86. As his life partner of 46 years, is there a part of you that is worried about his age and health? Can he do it?”
Dr. Jill, responding, said, “His age is an asset … He’s wise, he has wisdom, he has experience. He knows every leader on the world stage, he’s lived history, he knows history, he’s thoughtful in his decisions. He is the right man or the right person for the job at this moment in history.”
