“I Think He Feels Like He’s Losing Politically”: Trump Sounds Off on Jack Smith

Speaking to Breitbart News about the state of his battle with Special Counsel Jack Smith and how Jack Smith’s recent filing could show that he is feeling the heat politically, former President Donald Trump said that his political success shows he is winning in his fight against Special Counsel Smith and that Smith realizes it.

Particularly, former President Trump focused on how the public has reacted to the investigations into him and the charges brought against him, saying that the popular outrage against the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Department of Justice has helped buoy his political fortunes as the presidential race heats up.

Beginning, Breitbart News quotes former President Trump as saying that he thinks Special Counsel Smith is sensing a political defeat given how well Trump’s campaign is doing headed into the 2024 race. In former President Trump’s words: “I think he [Smith] feels like he’s losing politically because I’m leading everybody by a lot.“

Continuing, Trump commented on the public anger surrounding the investigations and charges, comparing America under Biden to banana republics in the third world. He said, “I think I’d be leading anyway, but I wouldn’t be leading by this much. People are really angry about the weaponization, about a political opponent, about a really dumb person taking the Justice Department [DOJ] — it’s really easy to figure that out because so many other countries do it, but they’re all third-world countries, and they are banana republics — but people are angry about it.”

Former President Trump then commented on the terrible turn America’s fortunes have taken under President Biden, describing the reversal of America’s once-bright fortunes as “unbelievable.” He said, “They don’t like seeing where someone would use the FBI, the DOJ, and everything to go after a political opponent.”

Continuing on that point, Trump added, “This is the most weaponized country. We’re not respected. He [Democrat President Joe Biden] is not respected. Our country is not respected. What this guy has done to this country in three years is unbelievable.”

Then Trump argued that Biden has done far more damage to America than the other ten worst presidents combined, saying, “You know, I have a saying I make in a lot of the speeches where I say if you add up the ten worst presidents in the history of our country — all of them, the ten worst, you could add them up cumulatively — they haven’t done the damage that Joe Biden has done to our country.”

Trump also, during his interview with Breitbart News, explained his immunity defense and how he sees the situation, arguing, “The president is entitled to immunity because I wasn’t campaigning — even if I was, I was still entitled to it. But this has nothing to do with that. This has to do with a rigged and corrupt election, and a president has an obligation to study that, analyze that, see if it’s true, and I happen to believe it’s true 100 percent, and it should be tried as part of this whole trial.”
