Shameen Obaid-Chinoy is a feminist filmmaker born in Pakistan who was chosen to direct the next “Star Wars” film to be released by Disney. Set to release in 2026, it will tell the story of Rey Skywalker, who will be a female Jedi Master in the story. Obaid-Chinoy is the first woman to direct a Star Wars movie.
She’s also incredibly woke, as could be expected from her being chosen by Disney to direct the upcoming movie. Such could be seen in Obaid-Chinoy’s comments to CNN, in which she complained about men previously having directed the Star Wars movies and said that it is “about time” a woman shapes the Star Wars univers.
In her comments to CNN, Obaid-Chinoy said, “I’m very thrilled about the project because I feel what we’re about to create is something very special.” Continuing, the feminist filmmaker went on to justify her agenda by saying it is “2024,” telling CNN, “We’re in 2024 now, and it’s about time that we had a woman come forward to shape a story in a galaxy far, far away,”
And, in a clip posted to X by Matt Walsh of the Daily Wire, Obaid-Chinoy said that she likes to make men “uncomfortable,” saying, “I enjoy making men uncomfortable. It is important to be able to look into the eyes of man and say ‘I am here’ and recognize that. And recognize that I am working to bring something that makes you uncomfortable and it should make you uncomfortable because you need to change your attitude.”
Continuing, she went on to say, “It’s only when you’re uncomfortable, when you’re shifty, when you have to have difficult conversations, that you will perhaps look at yourself in the mirror and not like the reflection, and then say maybe, ‘there is something wrong with the way I think’ or maybe ‘there is something wrong with the way I’m addressing this issue.’”
Matt Walsh, captioning the video, argued that her wokeness would make this movie yet another massive flop for Disney, saying, “Here’s the feminist director of the next Star Wars film saying that her goal is to ‘make men uncomfortable.’ This movie is destined to be Disney’s biggest flop yet.”
Similarly, Daily Wire personality Ben Shapiro ripped into the direction in which Disney is taking Star Wars, saying, “Kathleen Kennedy has just destroyed the series. Star Wars is one of the great IPRs in all of human history, tens of billions of dollars worth of IP. And they’ve now decided to turn over the universe to a person named Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. So who exactly is this person? She’s mostly famous for having made a couple of nonfiction documentaries that won Oscars about feminism and anti-feminism in Pakistan, which is fine, but what does that have to do with Star Wars?” he asked. Noting that Obaid-Chinoy was one of the directors of Miss Marvel, the 2022 series from Disney, he pointed out, “No one watched … no one wanted to watch and no one cared.”
He added, “They’ve decided to put her in charge of the next Star Wars movie, which will focus in on Rey. You remember Rey? Or maybe you don’t. She is the star of the last Star Wars trilogy in which they killed off all the characters you love in favor of characters that no one gave any hoots about whatsoever. No one has said the name Poe Dameron in years because no one cares. No one cares about Finn, and barely anyone cares about Rey. So they got rid of all your old favorites or they killed off on uselessly and stupidly. And then they killed off Luke uselessly and stupidly,” he continued. “And then they killed off Leia uselessly and stupidly. And then they added … characters like Rose, an awful character who annoyed everyone so much that they literally wrote her out of the third movie, ‘The Rise of Skywalker.’”
