Though there’s much for conservatives to find fault in with what the Biden Administration does when Biden is there, many on the right also find fault with Biden for frequently leaving the White House to go on vacation and then not work while on vacation. Former President Donald Trump bashed Biden for that in a recent interview, saying that he always worked while golfing or at Mar-a-Lago, but that Biden rarely works on vacation.
During the interview, which was with Breitbart News, Trump contrasted his own use of golf games for making deals and Mar-a-Lago as a “Southern White House” with Biden’s frequent trips to the beach and limited work done while at the beach.
Speaking on that, Trump called Mar-a-Lago the “Southern White House” and said he uses he vacations to get more work done. He said, “I have to say, when I take vacations I’m always working. This is really the Southern White House. I have meetings left, right, and all day. Even if I’m playing golf, I’m always playing golf with somebody who is important like heads of countries, senators, et cetera. But it’s all work.”
Continuing, Trump alleged that Biden gets no work done while on vacation, telling Breitbart News, “This guy takes a vacation and he doesn’t talk to anybody. They say, ‘He’ll call you in two or three weeks because he’s on vacation.’ Did you know that? People call him and they say he’ll try getting back to you in the next two to three weeks because he’s on vacation.”
Trump also joked with Breitbart that the country would be better off if the Biden Administration did nothing while Biden is at the beach, rather than pushing far-left policies. Making that joke, he said the country would be better “If Biden only would have gone to that beach he goes to so much and just sat there trying to lift the chair, which weighs about three ounces.”
A report published in the New York Post at the end of 2023 showed that President Biden has so far taken, while president, more days on vacation away from the United States each year of his presidency, than the previous three American presidents did during their entire presidencies.
According to that NYP report, President Trump took 132 days away from the White House over his four years in office, Obama spent 38 days away from the White House, and George W. Bush spent 100 days away from the White House at his ranch in Texas. Biden, by contrast, has spent 138 days of 2023 on vacation and 417 days of his presidency, or 39% of it, on vacation.
Biden is currently vacationing at St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands for a week-long holiday as the New Year begins. Rep. Andy Biggs, tweeting about Biden’s trip, said, “Joe Biden is soaking up the sun in the Caribbean while an army of illegal aliens crash our southern border. Don’t be fooled, this is what the radical Left has always wanted.” Watch Biden arrive in the Virgin Islands here:
