Brendan Fraser has seen his fame grow in recent years as he has proven to be completely unafraid to speak his mind no matter where he is or who might be listening. While on a trip to Epcot, Fraser preached about the love of Christ as he spoke on stage during a candlelight party in the theme park to celebrate the coming of Christmas.
Fraser, who was talking in unfriendly territory, it seems, spoke about his love for Christ and the love and compassion that Jesus showed for all of us without fear of what the Disney leaders would think of his words. Fraser has gone toe to toe with the Hollywood establishment before and isn’t afraid to do it again.
Fraser said, “He didn’t have much, but what He did have, He shared. It became plenty. Food, water, shelter, care. He met the world around Him with empathy. He saw hunger and shared the food from His plate. Saw thirst, poured for them from His own cup. Saw sickness and offered His time for their healing.” To take it one step further and make his words even more clear, he told fans that this compassion from Jesus is not some hard-to-reach thing. In fact, they already have it. He said, “It lives in each and every one of us.”
Fraser is no stranger to taking a stand for what he thinks is right. While explaining that his mother didn’t raise a hypocrite, Fraser told fans why he wouldn’t be in attendance at the Golden Globes even though he was rumored to have received a nomination for his work.
He said, “I have more history with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association than I have respect for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. No, I will not participate. It’s because of the history that I have with them. And my mother didn’t raise a hypocrite. You can call me a lot of things, but not that.”
Other actors are also beginning to speak up about their faith at public events, even in an industry where the slightest slip-up can lead to cancelation attempts from the media. Chris Pratt has been a great example of speaking one’s mind with his constant vocal love of God and his support of America’s military veterans which have both been unwavering in the face of fame.
Pratt said, “It has truly made the difference in my life. It has grounded me in a way that I honestly could never have been grounded. I live in this crazy world with all you folk and I see the weirdest stuff in Hollywood. And I’m really grateful I have that anchor. Jesus has been after me my whole life.”
Brendan Fraser set a wonderful example at Epcot this year by speaking about his love for Jesus Christ and sharing the word of the Gospel in a place where people would not otherwise have heard it. Jesus is the reason for the season, and Frasier made sure to tell that to his fans.
