In a powerful campaign clip released this week, just in time for Christmas, former President Donald Trump accused President Joe Biden of targeting and persecuting American Christians, particularly faithful Catholics, claiming that there is a war against the Christian faithful to an extent never before seen in America.
Beginning, Trump blasted Joe Biden for what he and many others see as a war on Christians and Christian belief that is utterly unprecedented in American history, saying, “Under Crooked Joe Biden. Christians and Americans of faith are being persecuted like nothing this nation has ever seen before.”
Continuing, he claimed that Catholics are being specifically singled out as victims of Biden’s war on Christians, blasting the heavy-handed way the police state has been used against Catholics: “Catholics in particular are being targeted and evangelicals are surely on the watch list as well. Over the past three years, the Biden administration has sent SWAT teams to arrest pro-life activists.”
Former President Trump then argued that the Biden Administration’s tactics are similar to those used by the secret police forces of the Soviet Union, saying, “The FBI has been caught profiling devout Catholics as possible domestic terrorists and planning to send undercover spies into Catholic churches, just like in the old days of the Soviet Union.“
He then argued that, because of those government policies, Christians cannot contemplate voting for the Biden regime, saying, “Catholics, you can not vote for the Democrats. You can not even think about voting for Biden. What they’re doing to you is shocking. As president, I will create a new federal task force on fighting anti-Christian bias.”
And, to fix the problem, Trump vowed to lead a reworked DOJ toward taking on those who have been harassing and targeting Christians. He said, “It will be led by a reformed Department of Justice, but it will involve many agencies and departments. Its purview will be to investigate all forms of illegal discrimination, harassment and the persecution of Christians in America, as well as the use of taxpayer dollars to promote anti-Christian bigotry.”
Concluding, Trump explained what the task force would do to fight against anti-Christian policies, saying, “Among other initiatives, the task force will review the past DOJ persecutions and prosecutions for evidence of anti-Christian prejudice. And it will also look at government agencies, universities, and major corporations that have adopted anti-Christian diversity, equity and inclusion programs.”
Watch Trump here:
Trump mainly appears to have been referencing a document issued by the FBI’s Richmond field office, in which he claimed extremist Catholics are a major national security threat. Rep. Jim Jordan, in a subpoena related to that memo, said that the FBI “relied on at least one undercover agent to produce its analysis” and “proposed that its agents engage in outreach to Catholic parishes to develop sources among the clergy and church leadership to inform on Americans practicing their faith.”
Tweeting about the issue, Rep. Jordan said, “We now know the FBI, relying on information derived from at least one undercover employee, sought to use local religious organizations as ‘new avenues for tripwire and source development.‘”
