How does one make a successful effort to stay in touch with family members over the Christmas holidays? A group of adult cousins in Pennsylvania came up with the fun idea of spending more time with each other and their loving grandparents by having an “adult cousins sleepover” at their grandparents’ house.
Ronald and Linda George, the grandparents of the cousins who banded together for the special way to celebrate Christmas, said that it had been more than two decades since their grandkids, who now have families and kids of their own, had stayed the night for a sleepover, making it a dumbfounding event when they all showed up to give it another go.
According to Amber Hauck, one of the grandkids, the unique idea started as a joke amongst the cousins, who laughed about how funny it would be for them to show up again. But then, when Linda George, their grandma, had a health scare, they decided they’d try to make it happen and the five grandkids, aged 26 to 32, picked a date and showed up.
They then got settled, with most of them setting up to sleep on the floor after they assured their grandma that their 11 total grandkids were being looked after, and had a charcuterie board, pizza, and wine while playing dominos with Ronald and Linda. Linda told Fox News Digital that them “sitting around the table eating a hearty breakfast talking and laughing about sleepovers when they were little” was the most memorable part of the heartwarming event.
Amber added that the breakfast was especially fun because it was cooked by George, who would always cook the breakfasts when they had sleepovers as little kids. “We were up at 5:45 a.m. pretending to sleep while he was cooking,” she said.
Ronald and Linda, in a joint statement to Fox News Digital on the adult sleepover, said that they loved getting to do another sleepover with their grandkids, saying, “Loved that these kids did this for us! We will never forget this — love these grandchildren so much!”
