Conservative businessman Vivek Ramaswamy recently sounded off on his fellow Republican primary candidates during the fourth debate this week. A particularly heated exchange unfolded when former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie called Ramaswamy an “obnoxious blowhard.” Ramaswamy responded with an unapologetic monologue, instructing Christie to “get the hell out of this race.”
Ramaswamy challenged Christie’s intellectual aptitude toward foreign policy, referencing the ongoing war in Ukraine. The businessman, with a comical illustration, claimed the foreign governor had no real experience in foreign affairs and even less knowledge of Ukraine as a country.
“First of all, Chris Christie also doesn’t know what provinces in eastern Ukraine he actually wants us to fight for. Chris, your version of foreign policy experience was closing a bridge from New Jersey to New York,” Ramaswamy slammed Christie. “So do everybody a favor, just walk yourself off that stage, enjoy a nice meal, and get the hell out of this race!”
“So listen up to this is it these people want to send your sons and daughters to go die in Ukraine. They’ve been arguing for it for a year $200 billion of our taxpayer money sent over. Neither of them could even name for you the provinces that they actually want to protect. And this is the people who have been touting their so called foreign policy experience. It is intellectual fraud. These people are lying to you the same people who told you about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq to justify that invasion didn’t know the first thing about it if they sent 1000s of our sons and daughters to die. The same people who told you the same in Afghanistan, where the Taliban is still in charge. 20 years later, 7 trillion of our national debt due to these toxic Neo cons you could put lipstick on a Dick Cheney is still a fascist neocon,” Ramaswamy added.
Ramaswamy also called out Nikki Haley’s stance on the war in Ukraine, suggesting that his own solution of a peace agreement would be the optimal strategy to pursue. He proceeded to put Haley on the spot, alleging she couldn’t name three Ukrainian provinces. To his point, Haley remained silent, unable to refute Ramaswamy, though shortly afterward she was able to name the three provinces.
“Foreign policy experience is not the same as foreign policy wisdom. I want everybody at home to know that I was the first person to say we need a reasonable peace deal in Ukraine. Now a lot of the neocons are quietly coming along to that position with the exceptions of Nikki Haley and Joe Biden, who still support this, what I believe is a pointless war in Ukraine,” Ramaswamy said.
“And I think those with foreign policy experience, one thing that Joe Biden and Nikki Haley have in common is that neither of them could even state for you three provinces in eastern Ukraine that they want to send our troops to actually fight for. Look at that. This is what I want people to understand,” he continued
Following the debate, Christie criticized Ramaswamy for his comments toward Nikki Haley. Christie alleged Ramaswamy didn’t respect “women’s basic intelligence” while calling him a “jackass” for exposing Haley’s inability to name Ukrainian provinces.
“I think Vivek does have a woman problem,” Christie said. “I do think he insults women’s basic intelligence. He’s done it over and over and over again. And I guess tonight, I just had had enough. I had enough of listening to his garbage, and as I said, his smart-ass Harvard mouth, because that’s what it is when he’s dictating to me. Nikki Haley. We have committed ourselves to public service while he’s been off stealing from seniors to make his fortune. Yeah, I’m not going to put up with him anymore.”
