Toy Story 5 is on the horizon, and Tim Allen is teasing its upcoming release as a “interesting way to reunite.” Fans of the series, which has spanned through multiple generations in its four releases, are excited for the fifth installation in the epic series.

According to Tim Allen, who spoke about the film to Jimmy Fallon, both he and Tom Hanks are back on board for the creation of the hotly anticipated Toy Story 5. The order to bring the two back came from CEO Bob Iger, who reached out to both of the massive Hollywood stars asking for their return to the series that is synonymous with great animated cinema.

Allen said, according to People, “Bob Iger, head of Disney, said it was on. He actually said it was going to happen. They have reached out to Tom and I to reprise the roles, [but] they’re not saying anything about it. What it is for people like me, it’s just like… you wonder if four was too many, is five going to be too much?”

It would seem that five will not be too much, as the internet is buzzing with excitement to see the latest installment of Woody and Buzz and the rest of Andy’s forgotten toys as they continue to explore what it really means to have emotion and souls.

Allen continued, explaining that he has complete trust in the writers of the fifth Toy Story and that the group has incredible confidence that this film will be a great one. He said, “The writer that’s doing it wrote one of the better ones and he said, ‘If I didn’t get this right, I wouldn’t do it,’ so it could be a very, very interesting way to reunite it.”

According to Allen, both he and Tom Hanks have stayed in touch ever since their work together on Toy Story 1. That report between the pair is evident in the way that they delivered their lines as their characters spoke on screen. Now, the tandem is ready to tackle another rousing animated storyline.

Allen said, “He and I differ on so many things. I adore that man’s heart and mind… We’ve been going to lunch since Toy Story 1, two times a year, and we’re like two older women ’cause we will sit almost too close to each other at a booth. It’s just weird.”

He continued, “And I don’t think I’ve ever trusted a human being as much as Tom to even listen to me and vice versa. We have very different opinions on so many things, but he’s gotten me to accept — he’s really a wonderful and engaging person. He’s the first guy to listen to me and doesn’t judge.”
This upcoming film is going to be one that many parents and children will be excited to see together. For us older folks, we want to bring our young ones to see the continuation of a series that moved us and gave new light to the toys and figurines that we already loved.
