Mark Wahlberg is back in the news again, this time after being photographed spending some quality time with his youngest daughter as they marveled at a race car. Wahlberg is leaning against the incredibly fast car while he hugs and holds his daughter, Grace, as the pair poses for a picture.
The photo, shared by Rhea Durham, Wahlberg’s wife, took over social media as it was a rare look into the life of the Hollywood superstar. The post was captioned, “Need for Speed.” Wahlberg’s family seems to be getting along swimmingly following the much talked about move to Nevada as the family escaped failing California.
His motives to make the move to Nevada were family-oriented, he explained. Raising a family in the state of California is a well-documented poor decision, and Wahlberg made sure to stop himself from continuing to fall victim to the allure of the lights and fame present in the Golden State.
Now, according to Wahlberg during an interview with People, the new goal for the superstar is to turn Nevada into a haven for film production so that he never has to leave his family for work. As a part of that goal, Wahlberg would be looking to copy the greatness of Hollywood and create what he refers to as “Hollywood 2.0.”
Speaking to People about those plans, Wahlberg said that he and his family “moved to Nevada where, after this gubernatorial election, hopefully we go to legislation and get a bill passed so we can get tax credits for the state, build a state-of-the-art studio here and make this Hollywood 2.0.”
He continued, lamenting that he raised his kids for part of their lives in California and explaining that the move to Nevada will hopefully rectify that. “So to be able to give my kids a better life and follow and pursue their dreams — whether it be my daughter as an equestrian, my son as a basketball player, my younger son as a golfer — this made a lot more sense for us.”
He also mentioned his unique approach to teaching his children to adopt his strong Christian faith. Wahlberg said, “They think Dad’s crazy, and he’s boring. But even with my faith, I don’t force it on them. But they know that Dad can’t start the day without being in prayer, can’t start the day without reading my Scripture or going to Mass. And hopefully, instead of forcing that on them, they’ll say, ‘Well, if it works for Dad, maybe it’ll work for us,’ and they’ll kind of gravitate towards it on their own.”
So, the Wahlberg’s move out of slimy California seems to have been a wowing success. They appear happy and at peace with the massive decision to escape the failed state and start a new life in the neighboring haven of Nevada. Many other stars are likely to follow suit soon as Mark Wahlberg shows that one can have a successful acting career even if they are not always present in Hollywood, California.
