The race for the White House is heating up on the Republican side as America prepares itself for the last of the debates on Wednesday night. Despite the mountain of legal attempts by the Democrats to hamstring Trump’s inevitable run, he still leads by double-digit points over his GOP competitors and by a sizable amount over Joe Biden as well.
While it appears that the GOP race is all but over, prominent Republicans are still throwing their support behind President Trump. Whether it is sincere or simply an attempt to secure favor in a prospective Trump Administration doesn’t matter. What matters is the backing; a new, important voice has thrown her support behind Donald Trump.
Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders endorsed former President Trump on Monday for a second term. Sanders, who was Trump’s press secretary for two years and delivered a scathing response to Joe Biden’s State of the Union speech in February, will announce her endorsement at Trump’s Wednesday night rally in Florida.
The Wednesday rally coincides with the last Republican debate as Trump has once again decided to forgo the event as he possesses an almost insurmountable lead. Sanders has slammed Biden and other Dems for “doubling down on crazy” and maintains that America must vote for Trump in 2024.
The Arkansas Governor said: “It’s not a question between right versus left anymore. It’s normal versus crazy, and President Biden and the left are doubling down on crazy. The time has come to return to the normal policies of the Trump era which created a safer, stronger, and more prosperous America, and that’s why I am proud to endorse Donald Trump for President.”
It is an important endorsement from a powerful female ally and one that Trump desperately needs. Part of the reason he lost in 2020 was losing the suburban white woman vote, so a female in his corner is invaluable. Trump responded: “We had great success in the White House and it’s an honor to have Sarah’s endorsement. I look forward to having her at the big rally in Hialeah this Wednesday.”
Sander’s endorsement speaks volumes as she declined to support the former Governor of Arkansas, Asa Hutchinson. Hutchinson has spent most of his failed campaign criticizing Trump as opposed to offering solutions for how to beat Joe Biden in 2024, and people have noticed.

RealClearPolitics estimates Trump’s lead at roughly 45 points, so the only apparent angle left for the challengers is who will cull enough favor to attain positions in Trump’s prospective cabinet. Most of the also-rans, particularly Hutchinson, have spent their time bashing President Trump and offering little in terms of how they would beat Joe Biden and the Democrats in 2024.
The backing by Sanders could potentially put her in position for a prominent role in his cabinet. If not Vice President, there could be big things in store for Sanders down the road. She is smart, popular, and well-versed, and most importantly, she aligns with President Trump. Whether this leads to a bigger role remains to be seen, but her endorsement will help him, and President Trump tends to remain loyal to his people.
