During a recent interview, Kentucky gubernatorial candidate and Trump supporter David Cameron said that his victory in the state would be a step toward a major 2024 victory for Republicans, as it would help “propel” Trump back into the White House.
That interview was on Breitbart News Sunday, with Cameron talking about the election and the stakes of it before it happens on Tuesday. Cameron is currently tied 47 to 47 with Andy Beshear in polling, though Kentucky generally leans to the right on political matters, which could help Cameron pull ahead.
Commenting favorably on the poll, Cameron said, “This poll was what we’ve known all along, which is that I’m gonna beat Andy Beshear on November 7, and the reason I’m gonna beat him is because Andy Beshear is lockstep with Joe Biden. I mean, this is a governor who has openly endorsed Joe Biden for president.”
Cameron then turned to former President Donald Trump, touting Trump’s endorsement of him and saying he wants to see Trump win in 2024, saying, “President Trump has endorsed me, and I’m grateful for your support, and I certainly want to see him back in the White House next year.”
He explained that reciprocity is why Trump has gotten invested in the race, saying, “It’s why Donald Trump has gotten so invested in this race, and it’s why he wants to see me win, and that’s why he wants folks to go to the polls on November 7.”
He then added that Kentuckians have, with the election on Tuesday, the opportunity to send “a long, a big and strong message to the rest of the country, which is that we don’t want a far-left Democrat who reflects the policies of Joe Biden in our governor’s mansion anymore.”
Further, he said that his victory will send a message across the country that the GOP is ready to win in 2024 with Trump in the lead, a message that will help send Trump back to the White House. As Cameron put it, “This will resonate throughout the nation. And I believe we’re going to have a resounding victory on November 7, and it’s going to help propel Donald Trump into the White House in November of 2024.”
He then tied things back to this race, saying that before Kentuckians get excited about defeating Biden in 2024, they need to defeat Beshear in this election, saying, “But before we remove Joe Biden from the White House, we got to remove Andy Beshear from the statehouse here in Kentucky this year.”
Trump, commenting favorably on candidate Cameron in a post on Truth Social, said, “Wow, Daniel Cameron of Kentucky has made a huge surge, now that they see my strong Endorsement, and the fact that he’s not really “a McConnell guy.” They only try to label him that because he comes from the Great State of Kentucky. Anyway, Go Daniel, great future for you and your State—You will bring it to new levels of success, and I will help you!”

I’ve been hitting the campaign trail hard these past few days & one thing is clear: Kentuckians are tired of Biden. Andy Beshear supports Biden & I fully support Donald Trump. Let’s get Beshear out of the statehouse & get Trump back into the White House! pic.twitter.com/saPRRyF6Yq
