The newly elected Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, is, among other things, a faithful Christian who obviously is strong enough in his faith and beliefs to both publically proclaim it and explain how it informs his worldview in a very definable way.
He most recently did so during an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” during which he spoke to Sean Hannity about letting the Bible and the wisdom within it guide his general worldview and response to particular issues.
Speaking about how the Bible informs his worldview and shapes his stances on issues, Speaker Johnson said, “Someone asked me today in the media, ‘People are curious, what does Mike Johnson think about any issue?’ I said, ‘Well, go pick up a Bible off your shelf and read it. That’s my worldview.”

During that same interview, Speaker Johnson stood firmly against gun control, saying, “The end of the day, the problem is the human heart. It’s not guns, it’s not the weapons. At the end of the day, we have to protect the right of the citizens to protect themselves and that’s the Second Amendment. And that’s why our party stands so strongly for that.” He added, “This is not the time to be talking about legislation. We’re in the middle of that crisis right now.”
Establishment Sean Hannity then tried to press Johnson into supporting some sort of gun control, asking, “I’m sure this will become a bigger issue throughout the days moving forward. Is there any specific gun law that you would look at, or any new legislation you would look at?”
Johnson, to his credit, demurred and did not jump into backing any gun control ideas, telling Hannity, “Well, I’ve been in the job for 48 hours. We’ll see. I mean there’ll be lots of discussion, as there are after these heartbreaking tragedies, but your point is well taken.”
Congressman Greg Steube recently posted about Congressman Johnson on Facebook, showing him praying and saying, “In January, Congressman Mike Johnson joined me on the House floor while we were in a deadlock over who our next Speaker would be. We lifted up the speaker’s race to the Lord and asked for his divine guidance. Immediately after the prayer, 14 members changed their votes, ultimately leading to Speaker McCarthy securing the gavel by the end of the day.”
He added, emphasizing Johnson’s faith and conservative worldview, “Mike Johnson is a strong conservative, but above all else, he is a strong Christian. He’s not afraid to look to his faith for guidance. America needs that more than ever in the U.S. House. I look forward to voting for Mike Johnson as our next Speaker🇺🇸”
Further, Speaker Johnson, in his first speech after being elected Speaker, said, “Scripture, the Bible, is very clear: God is the one that raises up those in authority. All of us … [Marxism and Communism] begin with the premise that there is no God.”
