Sunny Hostin of “The View” has been hilariously fact-checked after spreading a lie about an altercation in which she claims that Jim Jordan “terrorized” her on the House floor. Hostin, who has made a career of bold sensationalized claims, was quickly debunked by folks on the internet who knew that this encounter never happened.
Hostin claimed that during a hearing where she testified at the House of Representatives about the merit of having cameras in a courtroom, Jordan became so incensed with her that he began yelling to the point of spitting as he “terrorized” Hostin with his words.
Does all of this sound a little bit too crazy to actually be the truth? That’s because it is. Hostin was quickly shot down by the fact-checking group News Busters who called Hostin’s claim a “lie.” This isn’t the only time a woman of “The View” was caught spreading falsehood, and it surely will not be the last.
“I’ve had my own personal interaction with Jim Jordan where he terrorized me,” said Hostin as she began to dive into her fantasy world in which she was viciously attacked by words from one of the most influential members of Congress.
“I testified in front of Congress. He was, like, spitting — he was yelling at me so much that he started spitting. I think when you have someone who, like Nancy Pelosi said, who supported an insurrection, who voted not to certify the election, who would then be second in command to the presidency, Rachel Maddow said that yesterday, and I think it — we gasped.”
Of course, the issue somehow wrapped back to a Trump-adjacent argument, with Hostin questioning whether Jordan should be given the authority to certify an election. She said, “I think the thought of a person like that being able to non-certify an election is really problematic. I mean, what’s going on in this country?”
Again, if all one did was watch “The View,” this probably seems like a true story. Thankfully for us, News Busters did a deep dive to check the validity of this recounting. News Busters combed through the footage of the hearing and found that while Jim Jordan certainly did not yell at Hostin, he didn’t even address her at all during his five-minute question time.
So, he didn’t say a word to her. Yet, somehow, Hostin thought it right to go on television and claim that he “terrorized” her. That absurdity is one of the main reasons why “The View” has become so widely disliked by members on the right side of the political aisle. There is nearly no fairness in the fact-checking and truth-telling on that show, no matter the amount of effort they pretend to make to bring on a right-leaning co-host.
Surely, Hostin made these claims, thinking that she wouldn’t be caught. But, she likely also knew the sad fact that even if she were caught, nothing bad would happen. Maybe we’ll get an apology read during the next taping of the show, at best. Watch here here:
