Team Biden recently announced that it would be providing $100 million in aid for humanitarian supplies to Gaza and the West Bank, a decision for which it is being severely criticized by conservatives outraged at the idea of American tax dollars being used to aid those in the area from which Hamas launched its bloody attack on Israel.
The Biden Administration, for its part, has insisted that the aid will not be used for any purposes other than to provide urgently needed food and medical aid to those civilians trapped in the embattled areas, and that if Hamas is caught benefiting from the aid, then the aid will cease immediately.
“This money will support more than 1 million displaced in conflict affected Palestinians, including emergency needs in Gaza,” Biden said, announcing the aid in a speech. He continued, “If Hamas diverts or steals the assistance, they will have demonstrated once again that they have no concern for the welfare of the Palestinian people, and it will end as a practical matter. It will stop the international community from being able to provide this aid.”
Sen. Josh Hawley, a Trump ally and opponent of the GOP Establishment, was very critical of the $100 million aid during an interview appearance on Fox News Channel’s “The Ingraham Angle” with Laura Ingraham, saying that it is unbelievable that Biden is providing aid to the territory.
He said, “[T]hese are the same people, Laura, who gave $6 billion to Iran. At the same time that Hamas was planning these attacks and Iran was helping them, and now we’re supposed to believe that giving them $100 million, our money, our taxpayer money, that that’s not going to go to the terrorists, giving it to the Palestinian leaders, it’s not going to go to the terrorists.”
Continuing, Sen. Hawley expressed yet more outrage at the idea, telling Ingraham, “I mean, please give me a break. I can’t believe that this is what Joe Biden is doing with American taxpayer dollars. I can’t wait to hear how he tries to justify it.”
Concluding, Sen. Hawley insisted that there is no justification for providing aid to Gaza while Gaza-based Hamas is fighting Israel, saying, “There is no justification. There shouldn’t be $1 that goes to Gaza, while these attacks are underway. We need to support Israel.”
Former President Donald Trump criticized the Biden decision as well, saying, “I think right now, it’s totally inappropriate. It’s so inappropriate to be doing that right now. He’s over in Israel and he’s giving money to the Palestinians. I think it’s very inappropriate.”
Trump also commented on the situation in the Middle East generally in a Truth Social post, saying, “As I successfully fight these Political Opponent Lawsuits, all created and started by Crooked Joe Biden and his group of Radical Left Thugs, I realize how insignificant they are compared to the horror of what is going on with Israel and the Middle East, where thousands of people have so needlessly died, in a war that should have NEVER STARTED, and millions could very easily follow, all due to the highly incompetent Biden Administration and their policies of Weakness and Appeasement (and of being just plain STUPID!).”
He continued, “This is true also with Ukraine/Russia, which would NEVER HAVE STARTED under the Trump Administration, and many other “hot spots” around the globe that could easily lead to big problems and death. Even INFLATION, a killer in its own right, would not have happened. So let them keep suing me over BULLSHIT, in their hope of Election Interference, as our Country becomes disabled and dies. We will successfully fight it all, and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, GREATER THAN EVER BEFORE!“
