The hottest ticket in sports recently hasn’t been the Los Angeles Lakers or the Houston Astros. It hasn’t been the WNBA or NASCAR. In fact, all the sports and entertainment world has been able to talk about is a certain NFL tight end who is dating a certain pop superstar who happens to be the biggest musical artist on the planet.
Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has been dating pop superstar Taylor Swift, and America can’t get enough. Swift has been prominently featured at every turn during the last three Kansas City games, even sharing a celebratory hug with Pat Mahome’s wife, Brittany.
During the Kansas City versus Denver game, Travis and Jason Kelce talked about their father meeting Taylor during the game in the private suite. Swift and Ed Kelce were spotted chopping it up during the game, and the press couldn’t get enough.
Taylor and Kelce’s mother, Donna, have been featured numerous times, but Swift finally was spotted talking to daddy Kelce. On Kelce’s Wednesday podcast, they talked about their father and Taylor’s interaction. They said: “Taylor talking to dad. You know dad, like I know dad.”
The brothers then joked about the possible content of the conversation between Swift and Ed Kelce. They continued: “This is a terrifying conversation. I felt terrible for Taylor for being in this. We can’t keep kicking dad just because we enjoy doing it. Our dad is the best f—ing dad in the world. He is a great converser or conversator (sic). However you wanna put it. It’s where Jason gets his storytelling, a lot of his charisma. We’re saying this because we like to rag on the big guy.”
In standard fashion, the Kelce boys continued to rip on their dad, but in a playful, most hilarious fashion. In the end, the brothers lightened up on their dad. They continued: “It was nice because mom has been getting quite a bit of the spotlight. It was cool to see dad up there on the TV for a little bit.”
Travis Kelce also addressed the controversy surrounding the implication that he pushed one of Swift’s security guards. The star player discussed the allegations: “Pushing them out of the way?… I didn’t push him. I placed my hand on the gentleman’s back to let him know I was behind him. If I pushed him, he probably would’ve turned to Taze me. “’Good sir, could you excuse me, I need to get the door, sorry. Thank you. I’m right behind you. Don’t want to startle you. I know it’s your job to keep crazy people away and if you just get randomly pushed in the back while standing in front of a door, that could probably be a little alarming.’ I didn’t one time get security to say anything about it. I’ll you what, they’re great. They’re good people.”
As long as the Chiefs continue to win, the Kelce/Swift relationship will make for good television. If the team begins to struggle, the script will flip. For now, America is enjoying the love story, and the Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift storyline will continue to dominate Sundays.
