A California rescue dog named Steven Tyler has found his forever home after months of looking out the window and longing for a new family to take him home. Steven was found wandering around Sacramento, California when he was taken to the Bradshaw Animal Shelter, and he was put up for adoption after nobody came to claim him.
When Steven entered the Animal Shelter, staff mentioned that he was shy and unsure of his new environment. He often stayed to the corners and tried to keep the attention off of himself as best he could. After warming up to his new temporary home, however, staff found a kind and playful dog that got along with people and dogs equally well.
Steven was still ready to get out of the animal shelter, even though he seemed to have fun at times. In a now-viral TikTok video, Steven can be seen peering out the window, longing for the day that a kind family comes to take him to his new home.
The video mentions that the only time that Steven is not staring out the window of his room is when he takes a break to cuddle with his new roommate, a friend that he made during playtime. The video received nearly 70 thousand likes and quickly spread across the country.
Now, after finding his fame, Steven Tyler has been adopted by a new loving family. Public Information Officer for Sacramento County Animal Care Services/Bradshaw Animal Shelter Luna Anona spoke to People about Steven Tyler’s movie-like adoption and how excited she is to know that he can live happily ever after.
Anona said, “Views are nice, but they don’t always mean that anything has changed for the pet. There are so many videos of adoptable pets that gain traction across the world every day, but at the end of the day, that pet is still waiting at the shelter. However, that wasn’t the case here: after two months of sitting by the window, that one video actually got him adopted the very day we posted it. We can’t put into words how ecstatic we were.”
According to Anona, this was exactly what the shelter had in mind when they posted the TikTok film. Their mission was accomplished, as they showed hundreds of thousands of people how sweet their little Steven Tyler really is.
Anona explained, “We thought he was just so adorable, but it was getting hard to walk past him looking like that every day! We thought if we could show more people what we were seeing, someone would fall in love with him the way we had.”
With the weekend here, this story feels like a great way to kick it off. A little bit of feel-good is injected straight into our veins. It’s hard not to feel an incredible sense of joy for Steven and the new family that took him home. Best wishes to the new family. I’m sure they will get along great.
