An anonymous donor made waves in the news surrounding current national defense issues in Israel by buying 250 plane tickets for Israeli Defense Force reservists who are making their back to defend their nation. The news of this brilliant work of philanthropy first made headlines on X, quickly spreading across the platform.
Avi Mayer, the Editor-in-Chief of the Jerusalem Post, shared the story first on X, saying, “I just read an account by an El Al crew member. An Orthodox Jewish man who preferred to remain anonymous stood quietly near the El Al counter at New York’s JFK Airport yesterday. Anyone who showed him an IDF call-up notice got his ticket paid for. He paid for 250 tickets.”

Following a surprise attack from Hamas that shook Israel, 300,000 reservists were called up to help defend the country against its attackers. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been very clear since the attacks that Hamas will be held accountable for its actions and that Israel will take action quickly and swiftly.
Netanyahu was crystal clear in speaking of the atrocities that Hamas has committed against the Israeli people and that Israel is in a full-scale war against the organization that he compares to ISIS. He wrote, “Hamas will understand that by attacking us, they have made a mistake of historic proportions. We will exact a price that will be remembered by them and Israel’s other enemies for decades to come.”
That promise of retribution comes after Israel, one of the most well-equipped and well-funded militaries in the world, has ramped itself up almost overnight into a war-fighting stance.
Netanyahu continued, clearly stating what he believes Hamas to be. He wrote, “The savage attacks that Hamas perpetrated against innocent Israelis are mindboggling: slaughtering families in their homes, massacring hundreds of young people at an outdoor festival, kidnapping scores of women, children and elderly, even Holocaust survivors. Hamas terrorists bound, burned and executed children. They are savages. Hamas is ISIS.”
Israel is at war.
We didn’t want this war.
It was forced upon us in the most brutal and savage way.
But though Israel didn’t start this war, Israel will finish it.Once, the Jewish people were stateless.
Once, the Jewish people were defenseless.
No longer.Hamas will… pic.twitter.com/eVECGnzLu3

Former President and current 2024 Republican frontrunner Donald Trump said that these atrocities would not have happened had won the 2020 election and still been in office. He said, “Less than four years ago, we had peace in the Middle East with the historic Abraham Accords. Today we have an all-out war in Israel, and it’s going to spread very quickly. What a difference a president makes.”
He went even one step further, calling out 2024 rival Joe Biden. Trump said, “Joe Biden betrayed Israel.” He later continued, saying, “Now they’re pouring into our country. They’re pouring into our country. Joe Biden undid it. He ended it all and gave billions and billions of dollars to the world’s top sponsor of terror, tossing Israel to the bloodthirsty terrorists and jihadists.”
War in Israel is only just beginning, and there will surely be more bloodshed before this newest saga of Middle East violence comes to a close. This will almost certainly be a hot topic during the 2024 presidential election, and Donald Trump has gotten to work early highlighting ways that he believes he would handle this situation far better than any other candidate in this election cycle.
