New York Attorney General Letitia James is currently battling against former President Donald Trump in a civil trial in which she and her office allege that Trump’s Trump Organization overstated the value of its properties for loans and insurance, thus committing fraud.
Trump, for his part, maintains that the allegations against him are baseless and that he is on trial for standing up to the left and Deep State, not for anything he or his company did wrong. He also disputes the valuations the court found for some of his properties and its not including his personal brand as part of the valuation.
AG James responded to his criticisms in a recent statement to the press, saying, “Trump’s comments [criticizing N.Y.’s fraud case] were offensive, they were baseless. They were void of any facts and/or any evidence. What they were, were comments that unfortunately fomented violence, comments that I would describe as race-baiting, and comments that unfortunately appeals to the bottom of our humanity.”
AG James went on to vow that she would not let Trump “bully” her, saying, “I will not sit idly by and allow anyone to subvert the law. And lastly, I will not be bullied. So Mr. Trump is no longer here, the Donald Trump show is over. This was nothing more than a political stunt.”
Trump, for his part, has kept up a steady drumbeat of criticism of James and the court. In one recent Truth Social post, for example, he said, “I’m in a rat’s nest of NEW YORK DEMOCRAT CORRUPTION, a reason so many companies are leaving New York, our Racist Attorney General filled a lawsuit whose facts and VALUATIONS are wrong, like $18,000,000 for Mar-a-Lago, when it is worth, perhaps, 100 times that amount, and numerous other properties, likewise, that this case is a political SHAM that should never have been brought. I DON’T EVEN GET A JURY – Therefore, a Radical Left Judge, who came up through Democrat Club System, will decide. It is not possible that he can be fair.”
He added, “Every decision he makes has been a horror show. It is why I do the set asides with the media – To explain the case, and what is going on. Our CORRUPT, RACIST, & INCOMPETENT A.G., Letitia “Peekaboo” James, considered the WORST ATTORNEY GENERAL IN THE UNITED STATES, refused to bring this case under the respected “Commercial Division,” where judges understand Valuations and Real Estate. This Trump Hating Judge doesn’t. The Appellant Division must intercede, NOW!”
Further, in a recent statement to the press, Trump noted that the legal battle has stopped him from campaigning, telling the press, “I’m here–stuck here, and I can’t campaign. I’d rather be right now in Iowa. I’d rather be in New Hampshire or South Carolina or Ohio or a lot of other places. But I’m stuck here because I have a corrupt attorney general that communicates with the DOJ in Washington to keep me nice and busy.”
