Eric Clapton raised a whopping $2.2 million for the campaign of Democrat presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Clapton did so by playing music at a campaign event in Los Angeles, California. Clapton, while playing on his guitar in front of a Robert F. Kennedy Jr. 2024 flag, firmly pledged his support of the man who looks to unseat Joe Biden in the primary election.
Kennedy Jr.’s official campaign site released a statement regarding the performance form the rock and roll legend. The release explains that the private concert took place at a “private estate in Brentwood near Los Angeles.”
Kennedy thanked Clapton for his performance and talked about his excitement about the growing campaign funds that will give him firepower in 2024. He said, “I am deeply grateful to Eric Clapton for bringing his musical artistry and rebellious spirit to my gathering in Los Angeles last night.”
Kennedy continued, saying, “I sometimes think that in our divided society, it is music rather than any kind of intellectual agreement that has the most potential to bring us together again. Eric sings from the depths of the human condition. If he sees in me the possibility of bringing unity to our country, it is only possible because artists like him invoke a buried faith in the limitless power of human beings to overcome any obstacle.”

Such a huge endorsement from a figure such as Clapton is sure to raise eyebrows in the Democrat Party. Couple that with the $2.2 million that was pulled in from the event, and it becomes clear that Kennedy is making a serious run to make major shuffles in the party. His rise has been unwelcome by many Democrats as he continues to buck the trend of handpicked presidential candidates and as he looks to thrust himself past the aging Joe Biden.
In a YouTube video addressed to Kennedy and his fans, Eric Clapton announced his excitement about the concert and his plan to aide the campaign. He said, “I just wanted to say, I’m looking forward to seeing you all soon at this gig for truth, unity, peace, and posterity with the Kennedy team. See you soon.”
Tickets to the concert cost $6,600 and were not easy to come by, according to Fox News’ reporting. Kennedy has also received plenty of celebrity endorsements aside from Clapton, with one notable example being Woody Harrelson, according to The American Tribune.
Harrelson said, “I understand it. And there’s still a fear of communism. We still loathe Russia. There’s still all the concern about the liberal agenda. I get how this mentality develops. I’m really, basically, a little bit of both.”
He continued, saying, “There are things that the liberals do that I think, What fucking idiots. And then there’s also conservative ideology that strikes me as odd. I consider myself, really, an anarchist.”
