Yankee Legend Obliterated Woke Agenda Infecting Sports: ‘Not Right and It’s Dangerous’

Yankee legend David Wells isn’t afraid to speak about the woke agenda infecting modern-day sports. Wells has a history of being outspoken and standing up for his beliefs. Beyond that, he is also a two-time World Series champion and threw a perfect game as a Yankee.

Now, Wells is speaking out against what he perceives as the biggest threat to modern sports. During a recent interview, Wells had some strong opinions about Colin Kaepernick, Nike, and biological men participating in women’s sports. As usual, while the left is furious, most rational people tend to agree with Wells’ position.

The Yankee great went on to blame multi-national corporations for pushing the political narratives on sports fans and further insisted that many athletes are afraid to speak out for fear of repercussion. He compared his playing days in the 1990s, saying, “And now with these companies that are coming out and jumping on board and trying to change the game and put a lot of politics in the game, to me, I think it’s confusing a lot of the players because they’re afraid to speak up.”

Continuing, Wells then went on to explain how companies are pushing sports into politics, saying, “But you know what? If I was making 30, 40 million a year and it’s guaranteed, I’m going to speak out, speak your mind. But to me, these companies are putting a really big damper, I think, on the game of sports because of the political stance that they’re putting on these guys.”

Indeed, even the most casual of sports fans can agree that political posturing and corporate branding have tarnished sports. From the BLM logos on NBA courts to trite slogans on NFL fields, many sports fans have simply walked away due to the constant politicization of the games they love.

Wells went on to have some choice words for two of the chief offenders in Nike and Bud Light. He said: “Be what you want to be. I don’t have a problem if you want to be transgender, you want to be this, you want to be that, that is fine. But when you’re going to go in marketing and then you’re going to push that narrative and you’re going to push those values towards the other side and neglect the everyday consumer. A lot of people drink Bud Light, and to me, it’s just the wrong message to send. They’re sending the wrong message. They’re doing it wrong. You’re going to lose the customers, which Bud Light already did… But to me, Bud Light, they screwed up big time and they’ve lost it.”

Wells is, of course, referring to Bud Lights’ ill-fated decision to employ transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney as part of their marketing agenda, which has resulted in catastrophic losses for the once-dominant brand.

Wells wasn’t done, as he threw props out to University of Kentucky swimmer and activist Riley Gaines. He continued: “She is so spot on when it comes to transgender in sport, men playing women’s sport. You just you can’t do that. It’s not right, and it’s dangerous. If I was to say: I’m going to switch over and I’m going to go play women’s sports, I’m going to hurt somebody, especially if I’m throwing 95… they need to start their own leagues, if that’s the case, if that’s what they want to do, and make it fair.”

David Wells is also the founder of the veteran-based Perfect 33 Foundation and took the time to put Colin Kaepernick and his anti-American activities on blast, as well as Nike. He said: “When Kaepernick took the knee against our national anthem, and I’m a huge, huge military supporter, that’s what my foundation is all about, and for Nike to jump on board and reward this guy for that and the things that are going on, I told myself if I was playing in today’s game and we had Nike jersey, I’d tape it up. I’d cut a hole in it.”

Wells may not be the only athlete to be against the woke mind virus infecting today’s sports landscape, but he is one of the only ones to speak out. While many on the left will criticize him and attempt to besmirch his legacy and his good name, we need people like David Wells to tell the truth and expose the forces that are ruining American sports.
