The other shoe has finally dropped in the Hunter Biden saga. After months of negotiations, speculation, and failed deals, Hunter Biden has been indicted for making false statements and possessing a gun while addicted to drugs. It is an unexpected twist in a case that the DOJ has seemingly been trying to make go away for months.
Biden was charged with making false statements in the purchase of a firearm, making a false statement related to information required to be kept by a federal firearms licensed dealer, and one count of possession of a firearm by a person who is addicted to a controlled substance.
The indictment reads: “On or about October 12, 2018, in the District of Delaware, the defendant, Robert Hunter Biden, in connection with the acquisition of a firearm, that is, a Colt Cobra 38SPL Revolver with serial number RA 551363…knowingly made a false and fictitious written statement, intended and likely to deceive that dealer with respect to a fact material to the lawfulness of the sale of the firearm…in that the defendant, Robert Hunter Biden, provided a written statement on Form 4473 certifying he was not an unlawful user of, and addicted to, any stimulant, narcotic drug, and any other controlled substance, when in fact, as he knew, that statement was false and fictitious.”
The Colt Cobra is not the typical gun carried for self-defense. In fact, the weapon is so small that it could be easily concealed in a pocket or a boot. The nature of the weapon is especially troubling, considering Biden was allegedly dealing with drugs and Russian hookers at the time.
Biden’s attorneys ran the expected defense for the first son: “As expected, prosecutors filed charges today that they deemed were not warranted just six weeks ago following a five-year investigation into this case. The evidence in this matter has not changed in the last six weeks, but the law has and so has MAGA Republicans’ improper and partisan interference in this process.”
Naturally, the defense team attempted to tie the indictment to former President Trump by using the term “Maga” despite the fact that Trump hasn’t been in office since 2020. They conveniently forget that everything Biden is accused of is illegal and a very bad look for the current president, Joe Biden.
The defense team continued, as reported: “Hunter Biden possessing an unloaded gun for 11 day [sic] was not a threat to public safety, but a prosecutor, with all the power imaginable, bending to political pressure presents a grave threat to our system of justice. We believe these charges are barred by the agreement the prosecutors made with Mr. Biden, the recent rulings by several federal courts that this statute is unconstitutional, and the facts that he did not violate that law, and we plan to demonstrate all of that in court.”
Again, the defense fails to mention that the gun was thrown into a dumpster by Biden’s lover, who happened to be his dead brother’s ex wife. She was so concerned about Hunter Biden possessing it that she felt compelled to trash the weapon.
The charges come after the original plea agreement, referred to by many as a “sweetheart deal,” fell apart under scrutiny from a federal judge. The deal was tied to several tax fraud charges, and under closer examination, the judge presiding couldn’t uphold the deal in good faith. At that point, the deal fell apart, and here we are.
It is unlikely, considering the sway Joe Biden has over the DOJ, that Hunter will be facing any serious jail time, but it does serve to further reveal the level of corruption in the Biden administration. Whatever the fate of Hunter Biden related to the gun charge, the damage to Joe Biden’s image is done and will surely affect him in 2024.
