Bidenomics, the moniker Joe Biden likes to apply to his failed economic policies, is a throwback homage to Reaganomics from the 1980s. The difference is that Reaganomics actually worked, whereas Bidenomics has been an utter disaster as millions of families continue to have issues putting food on the table.
That still hasn’t stopped Joe Biden from touting his failed plan. Unfortunately, the average middle-class American knows that real wages are down, energy and food prices are way up, and there is no relief in sight. Slowly, media types and pundits are starting to call out Biden for his misleading claims.
It has gotten so extreme that even hard-core left-wing apologists are starting to turn on Biden. Famed Washington Post liberal David Ignatius recently even went as far as to suggest Joe Biden and Kamala Harris shouldn’t even run in 2024. He recently said: “I don’t think Biden and Vice President Harris should run for re-election. It’s painful to say that, given my admiration for much of what they have accomplished. But if he and Harris campaign together in 2024, I think Biden risks undoing his greatest achievement — which was stopping [former President] Trump.”
It is unclear exactly what Ignatious thinks the president and vice president have accomplished besides record-high inflation and an utterly incompetent foreign policy. It speaks volumes that he thinks their greatest accomplishment is stopping the president who made America energy independent and fostered the best economy in a generation.
Ignatius cited the concern that is on the mind of most Americans, both Democrat and Republican, when he said: “Biden would carry two big liabilities into a 2024 campaign. He would be 82 when he began a second term. Because of their concerns about Biden’s age, voters would sensibly focus on his presumptive running mate, Harris. She is less popular than Biden.”
Indeed, Kamala Harris is likely the least popular Vice President in American history, and her polling numbers reflect that. Polls show that Americans don’t want a Biden/Harris ticket in 2024.
On Wednesday, another famous name spoke up about the conundrum facing the Democrats. Newt Gingrich had some opinions on why Ignatius is disavowing Biden and why voters don’t want to run it back with Joe and Kamala. He said: “Well, this may be one of the great strategic mistakes for re-election that anybody has made in modern times. Bidenomics is going to become an absurdity. The average everyday American knows that the price of gasoline is going up and, by the way, every indication is that the Biden administration policies are going to make gasoline even more expensive. So, gasoline is a major factor in the consumer price index. As it keeps going up, you will see the inflation going up.”
While the Biden administration attempts to sell the illusion of sunshine and rainbows economically, middle-class Americans continue to feel the pinch at the pump and the grocery store. With winter approaching, things are only going to get worse.
Gingrich summed up what most Americans feel on a daily basis. He said: “At the same time, everybody who goes grocery shopping, and Calista and I did this over the weekend — you are startled by some of the prices. And you know that Joe Biden, he has a great chef at the White House, he gets to fly Air Force One, he gets to go to Wilmington and be surrounded by people. I don’t think they have a clue how bad inflation is, high prices are for the average American. And Bidenomics may be one of the reasons that one of the most important deep state columnists, David Ignatius, wrote a column this morning saying Biden should drop out. I think it’s beginning to sink in to Democrats that Biden getting reelected is going to be very, very hard.”
Gingrich has his finger on the pulse of what average Americans are feeling. Bidenomics isn’t working despite what they tell us. As we steam towards a Trump/Biden battle in 2024, Americans aren’t going to forget about Bidenomics, and that won’t work in Joe Biden’s favor.
