The illegal immigration crisis has now gotten so bad that even the leftist mayor of New York City, Mayor Eric Adams, has been roused to anger and is berating the Biden Administration for not providing enough aid as the Rotten Apple is swamped by a titanic wave of humanity.
In fact, Mayor Adams said that the crisis will, if it continues at its current pace, “destroy New York City” and force the metropolitan government to cut services to residents as it can’t keep up with the increasing burden posed by illegal immigration. Those comments came when Mayor Adams spoke to a gathered crowd at an Upper West Side townhall on Wednesday.
During the townhall, Mayor Adams claimed that 110,000 illegal immigrants have entered the city since the spring of 2022. Not only that, but the crisis looks to be unending, making it all the more dangerous. He said: “Let me tell you something, New Yorkers. Never in my life have I had a problem that I did not see an ending to. I don’t see an ending to this. I don’t see an ending to this. This issue will destroy New York City. Destroy New York City.”
Continuing, Mayor Adams highlighted the immense scope of the problem, one making the situation worse month by month as the world floods into New Yor City. In his words: “We’re getting 10,000 migrants a month … Now we’re getting people from all over the globe have made their minds up that they’re going to come through the southern part of the border and come into New York City.”
Giving examples of the massive number of regions from which the illegal immigrants are coming, Mayor Adams then said, “One time we were just getting Venezuela, now we’re getting Ecuador, now we’re getting Russian-speaking coming through Mexico, now we’re getting Western Africa, now we’re getting people from all over the globe have made their minds up that they’re going to come through the southern part of the border and come into New York City.”
And that’s when he got to the problem of the situation imposing a fiscal burden that will force the city to cut services in an attempt to reduce its deficit, saying, “And everyone is saying, ‘It’s New York City’s problem.’ Every community in this city is going to be impacted. We have a $12 billion deficit that we’re going to have to cut every service in this city is going to be impacted. All of us.”
Emphasizing that point yet again and noting that the city is now dealing with more than a hundred thousand illegal immigrants, Mayor Adams then said, “It’s going to come to your neighborhoods. All of us are going to be impacted by this. I said it last year when we had 15,000. I’m telling you now with 110,000. The city we knew, we’re about to lose.”
