According to recent reports, Angel Studios’ box office hit “Sound of Freedom” isn’t done yet.  The wildly successful film will be adding more international dates to its theatrical run as it edges closer to earning $200 million in global revenue.

According to a press release, executives at Angel Studios are seeking to introduce the film to countries across Europe, South America, Africa, and Asia, truly giving the film a global presence.

“We are thrilled to roll out another list of countries where ‘SOUND OF FREEDOM’ is doing a theatrical run, this list spans several continents including Europe, South America, Africa, and Asia, and there is even more to come,” Jared Geesey, senior vice president of Global Distribution for Angel Studios, said in the press release. “We’re seeing surging demand for this film around the globe, and we will continue to make additional announcements in the coming days and weeks,” he added.

Geesey further stated how demand for “Sound of Freedom” has skyrocketed since the film’s initial release in the U.S.  Moreover, human trafficking is not confined to America but is most certainly a global issue.  Therefore, it only makes sense to distribute the film internationally to continue raising awareness of the horrors of this phenomenon.

“Since ‘SOUND OF FREEDOM’ launched in the US, demand has been building around the world in dozens of regions and languages,” Geesey said. “Child trafficking is a global issue, and we hope to build on the incredible momentum here in the states and share the film’s powerful message worldwide.”

Angel Studios also made an announcement about the success of its “pay it forward” system, which has allowed people to buy tickets online that can be redeemed by a stranger at a movie theater to see the film for free.  The film studio will continue to utilize this as the film continues to be circulated worldwide.

“Angel Studios, the platform empowering filmmakers with full creative control to crowdfund and create, is building a global Angel cinema network to extend the power of Pay it Forward to theaters around the world. They will begin with direct to theaters distribution in Latin American countries, the UK, and Ireland, and also partner with distributors around the world to meet the demand for SOUND OF FREEDOM to launch in new markets and additional languages. Today, Angel is honored to share the release dates for the next regions in the global theatrical release.”

“Sound of Freedom” has seen undeniable success at the box office domestically.  In fact, it became the first movie in history to see a second-week jump in revenue greater than 35 percent.  The film saw demand for its screenings across the country weeks after its initial release, driving it to become the top-grossing independent film since the pandemic.

“SOUND OF FREEDOM is breaking theatrical records as it continues to dominate the US box office. The film is the only film in history to achieve a second-week jump greater than 35% during the summer blockbuster season, and is now the top grossing independent film since the pandemic. Demand has allowed the film’s US screen count to impressively maintain 3,285 theater locations in its 4th week, and now totaling over $127M in domestic box office since its July 4 release,” according to an Angel Studios press release.
