Why does it seem that President Joe Biden rarely decided to stop and take questions from reporters? Well, in the delusional world of White House Press Secretary Karine Jean Pierre, the eighty year old president who sometimes has trouble walking up the Air Force One stairs is going so fast the reporters have trouble managing to “keep up” with him and his active schedule. That claim was so absurd even CNN laughed at it.
KJP’s ludicrous claim about Biden being active came during an appearance KJP made on Jake Tapper’s show “The Lead” on CNN, during which the press secretary attempted to push back on or otherwise discredit polls showing that Americans are more than a bit concerned with the elderly president’s advanced age and seemingly declining health.
The topic came up when Tapper, pointing to polls showing the vast majority of Americans are worried about Biden’s age, asked, “Is the White House worried that questions about President Biden’s stamina could ultimately impact whether or not voters will be able to support him for a second term?”
That’s when KJP went out on a limb and tried to tell Tapper that the members of the White House press corps have intimated to her that they have trouble keeping up with the elderly president as he travels and gets his itinerary abroad done.
She said, “I’ve had conversations with some of your colleagues in the White House press corps, when we travel abroad, [about] how it is hard for us to keep up with this president who is constantly, constantly working every day to get things done and making sure that we are delivering for the American people.”
Continuing, she added, “And that’s what, I think that’s what matters. I get it. I get what you’re asking me, but the record matters too, Jake. What he has been able to do, no other president has been able to do if you look at his legislative record.”
And, further trying to push back on the question and dodge it while defending President Biden’s roll in the administration, she said, “I get asked that question a lot. Here’s the thing. What this president brings to the administration is wisdom and experience, and that is just true.”
Reiterating her point that Americans care more about Biden’s “record” than his advanced age and seeming physical shortcomings, KJP added that Biden’s past political victories are more indicative of how Americans feel.
She said, “Look, people have come after the president about his age. They did it in 2019. They did it in 2020 leading into the general election. And they did it in 2022. And guess what, he beats them every time. Because he has his finger on the pulse of what it is the American people need. He talks about issues that really matter to the American people. And he is delivering.”
Tapper, for his part, was obviously skeptical and doubted what she told him, reiterating his point that more than three in four Americans are worried about Biden’s age and what it might show. He said:
Jake Tapper: "OK, so you're part of the 23% of adults who are NOT concerned about the president’s ability to be president because of his age and stamina. I got it."
KJP, laughing: "Because all you gotta do is watch him!"
Tapper: "But 77% of adults are worried…" pic.twitter.com/NdOWRUgiJ8
