While leftist politicians are quick to claim that the thieves stealing luxury goods from malls and battering down the windows of shops on once-popular shopping avenues are doing so to “feed their families,” left out of the equation is that the violent rampages of those brutes leave the business owners in the lurch and unable to take care of their own families.
Such is what one business owner from Pasadena, California, brought up as he got emotional describing the havoc wreaked on his life by brazen thieves that burst into his jewelry shop, shattered the display cases, and made off with half a million dollars of his jewelry products.
According to the local Pasadena Police Department, the incident occurred in the middle of the day, 1:45 pm. At that time, four thieves in ski masks burst into the store, ransacking it and making off with the aforementioned $500,000 in stolen products.
After the robbery, local news outlet FOX 11 met the business owner, Samuel Babikian. He was unable to describe the suspects thoroughly because one of the robbers pepper-sprayed him, giving him breathing problems and making it difficult for him to see the suspects. “I was choking. I didn’t see nothing. I don’t even see who they are, I don’t even know how many people they are,” he said.
He said, “I don’t know what I would do tomorrow morning. I don’t know if I should come to the store. I don’t know, I really don’t know what I am going to be doing because this was my life, this is the place that gave food to my family.”
Mr. Babikian went on to highlight the injustice of it all, particularly the seeming protection from the law criminals get, to the detriment and expense of shop owners, saying, “It’s not right. In a second, they can come and destroy your life.”
The crime situation in California has recently gotten so bad, particularly in once-beautiful Los Angeles, that even the city of LA is now starting up a task force to try to deal with the organized crime ring making life for its residents a living hell.
LA Mayor Bass, describing the situation in a recent press conference, admitted that the situation has gotten unbearable, saying, “What we’ve seen over just the past week in the city of Los Angeles and in the cities and area surrounding us is unacceptable.”
Continuing, Mayor Bass said, “No Angeleno should feel like it is not safe to go shopping in Los Angeles. No entrepreneur should feel like it’s not safe to open a business in Los Angeles.” Emphasizing that point, Mayor Bass then said, “Our number one job is to keep Angelenos safe and to feel safe. When incidents of brazen theft and robbery occur, it shatters that feeling of safety.”
