Oliver Anthony recently exploded onto the country music scene with his new hit song “Rich Men North of Richmond.” For the first time since his newfound success, Anthony hosted a live performance in front of an energetic crowd eager to hear the artist.
However, before performing his much-anticipated set, Anthony began his concert with a brief, but impactful scripture reading. Jason Howerton shared a clip of the event, captioned, “STOP what you’re doing and watch @AintGottaDollar’s first message on stage since his viral song… With all the labels watching. POWERFUL.” Check it out below.

Oliver begins the clip joking that he played a show at the location earlier this summer, but to a much smaller crowd before he exploded in popularity as of recently. The singer then shared an inspiring message to the crowd about the opportunities America can provide to the average person. Anthony stated, “That’s that’s the beautiful part of this country that was even an idiot like, if I can do it, you can do it.”
“Before we start singing, and I mean we because I hope you all are going to be singing
something I felt compelled to share with you,” he informed the crowd. Anthony proceeds to recite several verses from the book of Psalms about the wicked and evil. He continued:
“This is in Psalms 37: 12- 20. The wicked plot against the righteous and massive teeth of them. But the Lord laughs at the wicked for he knows their day is coming. The wicked Draw the Sword and bend the bow, to bring down the poor and needy to slay those whose ways are upright, but their swords will pierce their own hearts. And there will be broken down in a little bit half righteousness in the wealth of many wicked, for the power of the wicked will be broken. But the Lord upholds the righteous. The blameless spend their days under the Lord’s care, and their inheritance will endure forever. In times of disaster, they will not weather and today’s a fan and they will have plenty but the wicked will perish. Though the Lord’s enemies are like the flowers of the field. They will be concerned and they will go up in smoke.”
Examples such as this demonstrate why Oliver Anthony has begun topping the charts seemingly overnight. There is such a dislocation between the mainstream cultural offerings and the values of red-blooded, conservative Americans. Like several other country musicians who have found recent success from speaking to this demographic, Anthony is filling this gap by offering non-woke, conservative-themed entertainment.
The American Tribune reported on the wild success of “Rich Men North of Richmond,” along with a couple of other songs by Oliver Anthony. According to Benny Johnson, the song calling out the Swamp in Washington, D.C., recently became the number one tune in America. Moreover, two other singles also reached the top 10 on this chart. Apparently, Oliver when from being a little-known farmer to having three top songs in a matter of days.
