The Jim Caviezel movie “The Sound of Freedom” has been a cultural phenomenon. Despite being filmed on a shoestring budget and being put in the can for several years by Disney before being purchased and released by faith-based Angel Studios, the movie has grossed an enormous $167 million dollars and is still going strong.
The film tells the true story of Tim Ballard, a Homeland Security agent that quit his job to rescue children from human trafficking in South America. Despite efforts from the left to silence the film and dissuade people from seeing it, it has taken on a life of its own.
Liberal outlets like The Guardian and Jezebel have attempted to connect the film with the QAnon conspiracy because of Caviezel’s belief that there is child trafficking in Hollywood. While that has absolutely nothing to do with the message of the film or the true story behind the movie, leftist media is still attacking it from all angles.
Which, of course, begs the question; how can anyone be against stopping child trafficking? This is a question the left is totally avoiding in favor of gaslighting and spreading false narratives.
Despite the furor, people are flocking in droves to see the movie, and many celebrities have signed off on the importance of the film. Jewel, Denzel Washington, Elon Musk, and others have all been staunch supporters of the movie and have encouraged others to take in the film and decide for themselves.
Recently, a most unexpected NFL celebrity saw The Sound of Freedom and weighed in with his opinion. Enigmatic star receiver of the Baltimore Ravens, Odell Beckham Jr, recently took in the movie and judging by his reaction on social media, was speechless.
Backham simply said in a Tweetw: “Sound of Freedom. I don’t even kno what to say. That’s heavy.” Very rarely in Beckham’s career has he been at a loss for words, but the heavy subject matter of the film left him near speechless.
It should be noted that Beckham has had an illustrious, if a not checkered, career in the league. Since taking the NFL by storm in 2013, his career has been marked by brilliance, injury, and controversy. However, he has always been quick to give his opinion and weigh in on whatever subject was on his mind. Until now.
Beckham has experienced what so many other moviegoers have experienced; the unmitigated horror of human trafficking. The film has moved many to action, and another former NFL star, Tim Tebow, has even started an anti-trafficking foundation.
“Rescue Them” is a branch of the Tim Tebow Foundation. His new campaign, called “unKnown” has vowed to fight human trafficking and stop the sex trade worldwide. Naturally, the left has an issue with Tebow as well.
Hopefully, the raw, guttural responses by high-profile celebrities like Beckham and Tebow, along with the efforts of the unKnown campaign, can help bring more awareness to the human trafficking crisis worldwide. Angel Studios plans to take The Sound of Freedom internationally, and more people will see the true story of Tim Ballard and hopefully be called to help in the fight against trafficking.
