Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi appeared on MSNBC to speak with MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell and, during the appearance, got visibly annoyed when Mitchell asked her about a possible impeachment of President Joe Biden over the corruption controversies surrounding him and his son, Hunter Biden.
When asked about an impeachment of President Biden, Rep. Pelosi, who championed the impeachment of former President Donald Trump, snapped that an attempt to impeach President Biden would be “frivolous” and a “diversionary tactic.” Continuing, she snapped that an impeachment would be evidence that Republicans have “nothing to offer the American people.”
That snapped response came when Mitchell asked, “How do you feel about the push by the House Republicans – many of them – the Speaker certainly you know certainly flirted with this idea of impeachment proceedings against President Biden because of unfounded allegations that he was involved with his son Hunter’s businesses?”
Pelosi was already getting agitated as Mitchell asked that, interjecting, “Well, let’s just…” But Mitchell plowed forward, saying, “As you well know, you were very cautious about starting impeachment proceedings for the very reason that once you start in a special committee or the judiciary committee, it’s very hard to stop that process.”
Pelosi was very, very annoyed by the question. Obviously angry that it was even asked, she snapped that the GOP was just talking about a Biden impeachment to distract the American people, saying, “With all due respect to your question, this is frivolous, this is a diversionary tactic.”
Continuing, she argued that it was just an attempt by Congressional Republicans to cover up President Biden’s supposed successes, saying, “They just can’t stand the fact we have a job report of over nearly 200,000 jobs today, that unemployment is three-and-a-half percent, that 18 straight months of unemployment under 4 percent.” She then added, “We’re talking about 13.4 million jobs created with Joe Biden in the White House and working with the Congressional Democrats.”
That ignores the fact that many of those jobs that were “created” were people going back to work after Covid. Regardless, she used it to further attack Republicans for the likely impeachment effort, saying, “They have to change the subject and they have nothing to offer the American people in terms of jobs and the rest. They talk about it, but then they change the subject when it’s time to deliver.”
Then she pretended that Democrats are above such tactics, ignoring that they did the very same thing to President Trump, albeit with even less reason, saying, “I’m so proud of the Democrats in the Congress, we fully intend to take back the House next time so we don’t have to deal with the frivolity, the waste of time of the Congress for them to go down this path.”
Then she feigned concern with the current GOP, likely meaning that the MAGA wing is what she truly fears, saying, “It’s really sad. I wish the Republican Party would be – somebody would take it back, that we’d have a real Republican Party. It’s up to them to decide what it is. But it shouldn’t be a cult.”
