Democratic Presidential Candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. recently posted a lengthy Twitter thread explaining his stance on border policy and why America needs to have control over its southern border. The inner-party challenger to President Biden illustrated that the need for effective border control stems from humanitarian needs, contrary to how the left paints the issue.
“When it comes to the divisive issue of border policy, here is the first principle I want everyone to understand. The reason for strong border control is not xenophobia, bigotry, or hate. The reason is humanitarian conscience,” Kennedy said on Twitter.

The presidential candidate claimed that both parties agree that there is a humanitarian crisis occurring at our southern border which necessitates political action. He alleged that violent drug cartels have too much power at the border. “Democrats and Republicans can agree that the humanitarian nightmare that has resulted from essentially handing immigration policy to the drug cartels is unacceptable. We need to take back control,” he said.
Kennedy stated that while he does want to promote immigration, it must be done legally and in a manner that allows the country’s infrastructure to accommodate the arrival of new citizens. “I am in favor of immigration. But it must be lawful, orderly, and at a volume the country can absorb without straining social resources,” RFK Jr. said.
The Democrat hopeful turned his sights back at the cartels and then the Biden administration for its lack of authority over the southern border with Mexico. “Ruthless criminal cartels have woven drugs, immigration, and human trafficking together into a multi-billion dollar business,” Kennedy claimed. “Biden administration policy has greatly exacerbated the situation. The border is out of control. Immigration is being administered by the cartels, not our government.”
Kennedy then stated that America would “disintegrate” if it does not get a grip on the border. He then outlined his plan to undermine the cartels with comprehensive border policy that would focus on controlling the influx of illegal immigration and cooperating with other nations to prevent the flow of people at the source.
“Our policy will be first, to get the border under control. Second, to work with other countries to stem the tide of migrants. Third, to fully fund and prioritize the administrative infrastructure for lawful, orderly immigration to this country,” he explained. “We can seal the border with technology and personnel. Cameras, motion detectors, lights, and where necessary, physical barriers. That part is easy. All we need is the will to do it.”
Kennedy concluded his thread by discussing his plan to establish a more robust judicial infrastructure around immigration that would incentivize migrants to pursue legal means of entering the country. “We can hire more immigration judges so people can’t come to border, claim asylum + put down roots awaiting court date years in the future. They should get a hearing right away. This will encourage those without valid asylum cases to pursue legal immigration, which we will make more accessible,” he said.
The democratic challenger maintained that he would focus on improving relations with Latin American countries through a “Good Neighbor” policy. He claimed this would promote conditions that do not create a need for people to seek out immigration to the United States.
